Angels perform a multiplicity of task and duties. Obviously they serve God, they accomplish this by the ceaseless chanting of glorias as they circle round the "High Holy Throne".
They also carry out missions from God to man, however many serve man directly as Guardians, Counselors, Guides, Judges, Interpreters, Cooks, Comforters, Dragomen, Matchmakers, and Gravediggers.
They are responsive to "Invocations" when such is properly formulated and the conditions are propitious
There are instances where an angel or angels turned the tide of a battle, fed hermits, abated storms, conveyed Saints to heaven, brought down plagues, converted heathens, hardened Pharoah's heart, Rescued Peter from prison, Rescued Daniel from the Lion's den, and caused the destruction of Sodom
An interesting observation, in the 70's everyone had an Guide that was from EGYPT, and in the 80's it was of an American Indian lineage, with the 90's came Angels, maybe they were here all along and just chose to manifest in that paticular form in that period of time
