This is the 13th card "The Hanged Man" and this card 12th card and a Major Arcana. Please post what you think this card means, please do not use a book to look at, but go by your gut feelings and instincts. If this card came out in a spread for a person what message do you feel lies within. Remember you get out of this what you put into it, it doesnt matter our much or how little you post, the key here is to trust yourself in what you give. Please post you feelings and thoughts and add it to this thread. In a couple of days the meaning of this card will be posted. Please dont be shy to post, this is meant to be a fun excercise that we can also learn in :) |

Well the first thing that comes to mind is the Bat card in the medicine cards. Hanging upside down. Old issues, old ideas are needed to be thrown out. Time to release those fears and learn from them. A time of rebirth, a time to begin anew on something. Kinda like the way a babe is birthed, head first. A new way of thinking may be needed. |

what I see in the card is spiritaul matters, also
maybe some influences of some nature, a force of power to hold you from
something of a danger. |

I see that the person feels a bit in limbo at the moment....hanging around with no obvious way out. However, he or she is only tied by one foot and could sort things out if a bit of thought is given to the situation. This may be an opportunity to look at things from a different angle and see if an answer to a particular problem can be then sorted. Dee xx p.s. this is my fist visit here...and I am sure I will be back several times, it is sooo interesting in here and will take me ages to read everything! |

I feel this card is an ending of something but it heralds a new beginning a fresh outlook and new solutions to old problems. Kingfisher |

To me this is a state of relaxing, letting go, opening oneself to knew possiblities and new ways of viewing the world. Also could be a period of wait and rest. I notice I tend to sleep with my legs in that position,
The image on here looks very open, he isn't trying to struggle and his arms are a bit behind him in a very open gesture. There is a glow around his head, maybe some enlightenment going on there.
(Misty are you going to post the meaning of this here? or maybe move this to the readings board community???) |

I see that the person is caught up in forces beyond his/ her control, and that decisions is this persons life right now are up to higher powers. A time of meditation & surrendering to the higher forces of the universe, to wait for something new to unfold?? |

Just my two cents on this card.. I had ordered a reading thru the internet and wanted to know if my reading was going to happen on the day we had assigned. I was quite anxious to hear from her. So, I pulled out my deck of cards and got the Hang man. I wasn't sure want that meant but.. I felt that possibly my reading would be cancelled. Time come for the reading, I gave her a call; she appologized to me and told me she hopped that she could come thru because she had a dying mother in law and things at home where not going so well. She had seriously taught of cancelling but..really didn't want to. She gave me a reading. Bottom line is, I would go with Tarot Dee, because I feel that she was undecided at the time and it could have went either way. |

That deck of tarot never meant anything to me, but I found a deck that does connect. To me this card represent confusion, indecision. needless regret over things which cannot be changed. |

- letting go
- having an emotional release
accepting what is surrendering to experience ending the struggle being vulnerable and open giving up control accepting God's will - reversing
- turning the world around
changing your mind overturning old priorities seeing from a new angle upending the old order doing an about-face - suspending action
- pausing to reflect
feeling outside of time taking time to just be giving up urgency living in the moment waiting for the best opportunity - sacrificing
- being a martyr
renouncing a claim putting self-interest aside going one step back to go two steps forward giving up for a higher cause putting others first The Hanged Man is one of the most mysterious cards in the tarot deck. It is simple, but complex. It attracts, but also disturbs. It contradicts itself in countless ways. The Hanged Man is unsettling because it symbolizes the action of paradox in our lives. A paradox is something that appears contradictory, and yet is true. The Hanged Man presents to us certain truths, but they are hidden in their opposites. The main lesson of the Hanged Man is that we "control" by letting go - we "win" by surrendering. The figure on Card 12 has made the ultimate surrender - to die on the cross of his own travails - yet he shines with the glory of divine understanding. He has sacrificed himself, but he emerges the victor. The Hanged Man also tells us that we can "move forward" by standing still. By suspending time, we can have all the time in the world. In readings, the Hanged Man reminds us that the best approach to a problem is not always the most obvious. When we most want to force our will on someone, that is when we should release. When we most want to have our own way, that is when we should sacrifice. When we most want to act, that is when we should wait. The irony is that by making these contradictory moves, we find what we are looking for |
