Dearest Members of the Fireplace, By now, many of you will have received the notice MSN is circulating about their intention to close all of their MSN groups effective February 21st, 2009.  They are offering the managers of each group the option to migrate their group to a site called "Multiply.com".  Other sites such as "Yuku.com" are also inviting groups in but would not import the existing contents of an MSN group. And so it is that the Fireplace is also faced with a decision about whether or not to migrate our group to Multiply, start another one elsewhere or simply tip our hats graciously as we bid one another farewell... As you know, our group has now been quiet for some time and this is a major factor in our considerations.  While many, many groups failed throughout the years, the Fireplace stood the tests of MSN's unwillingness to "play nice" and we endured because of the strength of our friendships.  Those friendships continue on and it is for that reason that I am reluctant to simply close the Fireplace.  I also believe that the abundance of information that has been posted to our forums through these past 6 years remains a valuable resource to our members. There are some sites which would allow us to restore our beloved chatroom.  Following MSN's de-commissioning of our very own chatroom in October of 2006, a lot of people who LOVE to chat simply rested their memberships with us.  Some people love forums but for the members of the Fireplace, the ability to chat was always a major asset to the community.  So... if we are able to find a site that would enable our chats to be what they once were, I think it would take very little time for us to be back to our laughing and gabbing our way through some of our Sexy Topic Nites... I am currently educating myself regarding what Multiply offers and will write again when I know whether or not it would be a good home for our beloved members. In the interim, I ask you to please bear with us... I have no intention of closing the group until I've learned all there is to learn about its potential for a successful migration to another site.  And I've even less intention of allowing our valuable friendships to be severed.
