Siyo Annie, In reading your profile here at The Wakan Circle, I learned that you were given your Indian name WalksSlowWoman by ten esteemed Elders of various tribes. If it is not inappropriate for me to ask, would you please tell how you came to be given your name by ten Elders? I am thinking that it must be a very special honor to be given a name in this way. Respectfully, Mary |

Glad to tell you... it was given to me through a great friend and Elder ...who ask all of the Elders he knew as friends to do this for me. They had a gathering where all could be there, and special prayers were sent up by each one...until they was given this name to honor me with. This means so much to me for this reason plus because one of those elders was my best friend who is no longer here with us on this earth. His name is Mamthesonak and he helped teach here for many many years. wado for asking...hugs Annie |
