Hello,
My name is Melanie and I am new to this group. I have a PhD. in History, and I have a particular interest in English history from 1066 through Victoria's reign. Quite a long stretch of course but one has to folow one's heart.

Just so you all know, I am totally blind and use a screen reader that reads the page to me, so I do beg your indulgence in matters of spelling and words inverted as when typing the cursor often skips around, and if I do not catch it before posting I may look like a moron.

I am also wheelchair bound and I have a Service dog named Freedom. I have been married over 20 years and have 2 sons who are 21 &19.

I look forward to getting to know you and in the spirited interchange of ideas about these fascinating creatures of history, Melanie

Welcome.  I know you will enjoy this group as much as I do, being a 34 year Tudor fan myself.

I look forward to seeing your posts and sharing opinions and knowledge with you!

Hi Melanie!! How do you do?
I've come to say "Hello to you!"
I love it when a Tudor fan
Drops in to join our little clan!

Ain't history fun? I love it lots!
It's full of some real horrid plots
To steal a throne and get the crown
And have your head fall on the ground!

I am the one who posts in rhyme
About this wild historic time
When Henry had a lot of wives
And none of them had happy lives.

That king was naughty! He was mean!
I'd hate it if I was his queen!
He'd have my head without remorse
As soon as love had run its course!

My name is Painter, I extend
This welcome to our new found friend
In hopes that you will stay a while
And maybe we can make you smile.

On a serious note, I admire the strength and courage that you display as you face life without the use of your eyes in a wheelchair. You are truly a remarkable woman and I'm sure that you are an inspiration to many. You have my most sincere respect.
