I've never heard of an Elizabeth "Van Der Muelin" portrait (all of her portraits seem to have names), but apparently this rich russety palette of the queen was unloaded by Sotheby's recently for 2.6 million pounds, nigh on triple what they expected to get for it, HERE. Anyone familiar with this portrait? I don't think I've ever seen it before. |

Thanks for the enlargement, Painter That's a great dress Lizzie's got on there as well. I don't think I've ever seen this one either (rt click save to computer happening in 3...2...1...) |

It's a beautiful example of their dress as well. I especially love the slashed sleeves with the white undersleeve drawn through. And it's interesting to see a portrait of QE1 without all the political sybolism in her later ones. Her genetic history shows through, you can see La Woodville's beautiful white hands(also inherited by MQOS, thanks to Elizabeth of York) and Anne Boleyn's dark eyes...... |
