Here is some interesting stuff from the DaytimeTV magazine published in December 1983.

A letter to the editor:

All Hughesed Up!  Once again, Dr. Bob Hughes' marriage is breaking up on ATWT.  What number wife is Miranda, anyway?  Frankly, we lost count a long time ago.  The other day, Bob told his daughter Franny that after her mom, Jennifer, died he thought he'd never find love again. What he neglected to tell Franny was that he'd already been through two divorces by the time he met her mom.  Dora McCarthy, Houston, TX   [I love it!]

Brian Bloom (Dusty)

Finding time for a social life is tough, especially when you have homework.  Brian Bloom, who plays Dustin Donovan on ATWT, just started the eighth grade and with schoolwork, commuting from his Long Island home, and studying scripts, he doesn't have a lot of spare time.  "I'll go rollerskating with girls and they're my friends, but I don't have a girlfriend," says Brian.  "Let's face it, you don't seriously date a girl at 13."

Danny Pintauro

Going to the Dogs:Although he's making his film debut in Cujo, Stephen King's latest thriller, daytime viewers will recognize the adorable Danny Pintauro.  Danny, who plays Paul Stenbeck on ATWT, is cast aqs the frightened young boy in Cujo.  Daniel Hugh-Kelley, (last seen as Frank Ryan on Ryan's Hope) plays his father in the flick.  Though the movie received mixed reviews, it's raking in the dough at the box office.

From Soap Opera Festival

Bob Woods (Bo Buchanan, OLTL) and David Forsyth (Burke, ATWT) both visited Walter Reade Hospital, and were especially touched by their private chats with other former Vietnam vets.  Later David stole away in the wee hours of the a.ma. to see the Vietnam Wall and Bob Woods was invited back to Washington for the unveiling of the statue being erected as a tribute to our Vietnam veterans.

Later that afternoon the actors all met with President Reagan and were honored for helping to coordinate the Celebrity Handshake Tour of military facilities under the auspices of the USO.

That night there was a black tie party at the Sheraton's Grand Ballroom in honor of this Day of National Recognition of Daytime Drama.  Some memorabilia to be placed in a permanent exhibit at the Smithsonian were:  the hourglass from DOOL, the original globe from ATWT, Bert Bauer's housedress from GL, the neon sign from Ryan's Bar on Ryan's Hope, Luke and Laura's wedding invitation from GH, plus publicity photos, magazines, et.

There's an article about a hunky looking David Forsyth, accompanied by a couple of pictures without a shirt (yowsa).

David Forsyth, who plays Burke Donovan on ATWT, has been a parametic, a ditch digger, a construction worker, and a soldier.  But for the past five years, he's been an actor and he loves his new profession.

"I gave myself five years to make it and I've been able to support myself better than I thought," explains David.  "I've done so many other things in my life that I don't worry about job security.  If I had to go back to digging ditches, I wouldn't mind as long as I had respect for myself.  You can find pride in whatever you do."

David was a paramedic in Florida, teaching at a hospital, when he realized he wanted something more.  He quit his job and enrolled in acting school.  "There was a lot of me not being expressed and acting was the perfect outlet," he says.  However, most of his family and friends had trouble accepting David's decision.  At the time he was married, owned a house and had other responsibilities.

"I've always operated on my gut instinct," says David.  "My philosophy is to have fun and take things as they come.  When I get upset about something, I'll start laughing and give myself a break.  It's much healthier."

David is sure his strict upbringing had a major influence on his unstructured lifestyle.  His father was a career Marine and David (along with his mother and older brother) lived all over the country, moving from base to base every two years.

"For a long time, I objected to my childhood but as I get older, I understand the positive influence it had," continues David.  "The discipline has helped me a lot in acting."

After doing commercials, dinner theater, and industrial films, in September of 1981 David, now divorced, landed the role of T J Canfield on Texas and moved to New York.  After that show was cancelled, World Turns snapped David up.

Though David laughingly admits it's impossible to maintain a private life in show business, he thinks someday he'll get married again and have a family.  For now, he's happy with his new career.  He explains, "I'm very adaptable."

Chris LeBlanc (Kirk McColl)

When Chris LeBlanc found out he'd won the role of Kirk McColl on ATWT, he was so jubilant (and nervous) that he got the name of the show completely mixed up and told all his friends to watch him on Another World!  By the time he celebrated his 25th birthday (on August 25), though, there was no more confusion about Chris' soap identity:  World Turns fans definitely considered him matinee-idol material and his popularity has been rising ever since.  Born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina -- and raised in a suburb of New Orleans -- Chris made his acting debut in the high school chorus line of Fiddler on the Roof, moved up to lead roles in musicals at Tulane, and then arrived on the silver screen as an extra in Cat People.  Chris' first encounter with the soap world was trying out for the part of Tad Martin on AMC (he lost to Michael Knight).  He worked as a busboy while waiting for his big break on AW...errr  ATWT.
