This is from a series of posts and comments from this group:

Mike Kasnoff came on the show in 1994. He was a mechanic who had just gotten out of jail and was on probation. He wanted to be a race car driver. He took the fall for a rich women who double crossed him. He met Rosanna Cabot, Carly's sister, and didnt know who she was. Ro, at the time was a runaway who was staying as a farm hand for Emma. He fell in love with Ro but he disliked rich women because of his unfortunate incarceration. Turns out Ro was very rich and her dad was an auto manufacturer. Mike had issues about Ro's money and her family didnt help. Ro had trouble with her past and went to Mussel Shell to find out more on her Mom. Mike went with her and they slept together and Evan Walsh, a corporate schemer who wanted Ro, turned Mike in to the police and he was arrested. Ro thought Mike left her cause he got what he wanted out of her. They broke up for a little while and Evan and Ro grew closer. Thats about the time Carly showed up in Oakdale. Ro thought it was her cousin, but it was really her sister. Seems Ro's mom had carly and left carly and her first husband when rich man cabot came to town. Thats kinda why Carly dislikes Ro. Well Carly was at a bar one night and Mike was there and they had a one night stand. carly didnt know Mike was Ro's boyfriend and Mike didnt know Carly was Ro's sister. Ro and Mike got back together.

In the meantime, the two sisters were sharing an apartment. Ro was trying to become an artist, Carly was trying to be nice to Ro so she could get some of the Cabot money. It drove Carly nuts to see rich Ro always whining about how horrible it was to have money. Carly grew to like Ro although she did resent that she had everything. Well the day Mike and Carly found out who each other was they both felt guilty, but that didnt stop them from being attracted to each other. Right before RO and Mike were to be married, in the wedding chapel no less, with Carly as the Maid of Honor, Carly fixed it so that Ro would find out that carly slept with Mike. Ro cancelled the wedding and took off in a car with Carly. She told carly "if you want him, you can have him and threw her engagement ring at Carly. Carly put it on her finger. The car flipped over and crashed and mike pulled Carly first cause he saw the hand with an engagement ring and thought it was ro's.Ro had had it with him and Carly. Carly and Mike tried to deny their feelings for each other, but in one drunken night, Mike was upset, i forget why, and he showed up at Carly's motel room and they did it and Carly got pregnant. Now Mike said he made mistake, although he had a thing for Carly, and told Carly they couldnt be together again and that he wanted to get Ro back. But when he found out that carly was pregnant he vowed to be there for her. She moved in with him and made a baby cradle for the baby. Ro really hated Carly for all she did and Ro started abusing her money. Mike still fought his feelings for Carly and tried to get with Ro. They actually got back together, but Rosanna had changed. She was cold and she acted like a rich bitc*. One night Ro and Carly got into a fight where Ro pushed Carly and she fell off the Valetta, a gambling ship, and she went into labor and lost her baby, Nora, a little girl named after Mike's mom. Ro and Mike broke up for good and Ro got hooked on gambling and left town. Carly lost the baby so she needed time away from mike and left town to do her clothing design thing in hong kong. When Mike brought Carly to the airport and you could tell he loved her. Mike eventually became a race car driver and then a good friend of lily's. He helped lily after Damian's plane crashed. He helped her find out who umberto was. Unberto was the guy who Emily brought to town. He had sabotaged the plane that "killed" Damian, Lily's husband. In the process of helping Lily, Mike met and grew kinda fond of another race driver, a girl named Pillar who was actually the bad guy Umberto's, who was going by the name of diego, sister. When Umberto was found out and killed Pillar left town and Mike followed after her to see if they had a future together. Thats the last we saw of him. An interesting note, Jack lives in Mike's old house. Also Mike was the reason for Ro's $50 million baby deal. She promised Carly the money if Carly married anyone but Mike. She didnt want Mike anymore and she wanted to be sure Carly never got him either cause she was sure carly would want the money over Mike. For more info, go to ask.com and type in Mike Kasnoff and it connect to a website that has a complete history and pictures. Hope this helps. If I got anything wrong, long time fans, please correct it.

Another post: I just have a few things to add: Even though Carly felt somewhat guilty, she also refused to deny the attraction she felt for Mike. In a memorable scene she broke into Mike's apartment and was waiting for him, naked in his bed. When he arrived and tried to kick Carly out, she stood on the bed, her back to the camera and held the sheet behind her as a backdrop, trying to intice Mike with her body while taunting him about the electricity they had experienced their token night together. It was sort of awful, and admirable all at once. It is safe to say that Carly has grown some since then. Although I can't remember the reason Mike came to Carly that New Year's Eve it was because whatever had happened was something Carly could uniquely understand. So the union that resulted in Nora's conception was really quite a sweet one, if not literal love-making. Carly was changed enough by her circumstances that she did stop trying to interfere with Mike's reuniting with Roseanna as long as he continued to be supportive during her pregnancy. It was Roseanna who kept revisiting the "betrayal" with suspicion and malice. Also, one correction is that Carly found the cradle in the Kasnoff's basement, and when she was cleaning it off she found the name 'Nora'carved at its head and figured out it was Mike's mother's. Carly then chose that name both as an homage to Nora Kasnoff, and to help create a bond for Mike to their child. Carly did some of this stuff to be calculating, but she honestly loved her unborn child and it was brutal to watch her in the days after the miscarriage lost and broken. There was a touching scene where Carly folds up a quilt that she had been piecing for Nora, and tucks a doll that she also had made into the cradle, and covers it with the quilt. When Mike said goodbye to Carly at the airport as she was departing for Hong Kong and a new life- she cut right through all the regrets and heartache by pulling Mike to her and giving him a fabulous and passionate kiss goodbye, blazing her essense right into his consciousness. It was the most jubilant departure of a character I have ever seen. Maura West always made Carly's motivations seem understandable, and it was easy to sympathize with her because she seemed so real.

And another post: When Rosanna first arrived at the farm, she was trying to escape her rich family life and went only by her first name so no one in town would know who she was (Cabot Motors is as well-known in Oakdale as Ford is in the real world).

When Evan had Mike arrested, it was for breaking the terms of his probation by leaving the state to go to Montana with Rosanna. He broke it another time to go to Florida for a race (or did he fenagle permission for that trip from his PO?), where, on the beach one day, he proposed to Rosanna with a ring he'd gotten from a crackerjack box. Wanting to shun everything to do with money herself, Ro thought it was the best ring she could ever have gotten.

Carly's mother did abandon her to run off with the wealthy Alexander Cabot. She left Carly to be raised by a hateful and resentful aunt who was very cruel and abusive to Carly. So while Rosanna was growing up in the lap of luxury with a mother who adored her, Carly grew up dirt poor with a caregiver who hated her. Rosanna and her mother were extremely close and it was her mother's death that caused Rosanna to go out "in search of herself" and had her landing in Luther's Corners (where the Snyder farm is).

When Alex Cabot found Rosanna in Oakdale, he was none too happy and tried his best to get his daughter away from the farm and the ex-con Mike, but to no avail. Alex died in the middle of a heated argument with Mike, and Mike was at first accused of murdering him. It was later discovered that Alex had had a heart attack and no one was to blame.

Alex had 2 other children from a previous marriage, as well as a new wife, the snooty mother of Evan and Connor Walsh, Edwina. Alex never cared much for the other children, and when his will was read and the bulk of his entire fortune went to Rosanna, there was a LOT of family conflict. Rosanna received $605,000,000.00 and each of the others only received a million dollars apiece. If I recall correctly, Rosanna offered them a little bit larger amount if they would agree not to contest the will. The rest she planned on donating to charity.

When Carly and Rosanna first started living together, Carly had dreams that they'd get a really cool place together and went out looking for apartments equipped with jaccuzzi's and the works. However, Rosanna had picked out very plain, almost dumpy, place for them to live in because she was still shunning anything to do with money. And in spite of the fact that she had access to millions of dollars, and had also sold a picture she'd drawn (of a horse - LOL) for $30,000.00, she still expected Carly to pay half the rent, which meant Carly had to bust her butt working menial jobs to scrape together her share, while Rosanna could sit back and draw at her leisure since she was already stacked with dough. This just made Carly all the more bitter towards the sister she surely thought would have been more generous towards her, given all she'd grown up with, basically at Carly's expense.

I think the cradle that Mike gave Carly for their baby had been his as a child, and he only repaired it when he brought it down from the attic. I could be wrong though - he may have made it for her.

Prior to the $50,000,000.00 trust fund deal, Rosanna had tried to buy Carly off and handed her a check for a rather large sum of money (I can't remember how much), but Carly tore the check to shreds in front of her and said that no amount of money could buy her away from Mike because she genuinely loved him, and walked out. Carly had no real intentions of going for the fifty mil trust fund any time soon either - she was hoping that if enough time passed, she and Mike could find a way to reunite. It was only later, when Jessica Griffin (Rosanna's lawyer) told her that Rosanna had made a change and put a deadline on it, that Carly decided that she'd go for it. Always resenting her sister for causing her to lose her baby, she figured Rosanna owed her and the next child she had that much at the least.

I know that Mike did go chasing after Pilar, but I think he also ended up moving Kasnoff Construction to Europe after James Stenbeck bankrupted him and his brother Mark (who by that time had married Connor Walsh Stricklyn after she left Cal) in a big building project scam. Mark and Connor followed him there and we haven't seen or heard from any of them since.
