Greetings, All!!
Runreg and I have been trying to think how to start out our "leadership" in this board, and, rather than jumping right in and stirring the cauldron so hard it would boil over in the first post, that we would begin with a "lighter" topic...

We both have talked a lot about the role our gods and goddesses play in our lives.  Too often, I have heard others talk of their gods and goddesses as "They Were"... (ie, Aphrodite WAS a Greek goddess of Love).  It is rare that I hear deity refered to as "They ARE".  That being said, we invite you to discuss who your gods and goddesses ARE, and how they manifest in your lives each and every day.

If you met one of the gods or goddesses today,
1.) Who are they?
2.) What do they wear?
3.) What are they doing for a living?
4.) What mode of transportation do they use?
5.) What pet (if any) do they keep?
6.) What hobbies do they have?
7.) How do they speak?
8.) What is their favorite drink?
9.) What kind of music do they listen to?

Have fun, and we look forward to your answers

Slainte,

Hmmm.... okay. I'm thinking that I shall be the first to get the ball rolling....

1.) Who are they?
Pan (demi-god?) ~ Hair and beard like chocolate, green eyes bright and heavily lashed, wide mischievously wicked grin which is frequently applied liberally to any ladies in his vicinity. Average height and compact build, fit and agile from work and play... full of crackling energy and vitality. Loves 'working the crowd'... natural entertainer and storyteller, yet balances it with a love of nature and remote camping. Close friend of Dionysus

2.) What do they wear?
Loose fitting clothing with plenty of room to move in, required for an active lifestyle

3.) What are they doing for a living?
Carpenter, enjoys all aspects of wood-working

4.) What mode of transportation do they use?
Dodge Ram, useful for camping and hauling

5.) What pet (if any) do they keep?
none at the moment, may require commitment (lol)

6.) What hobbies do they have?
Martial Arts as well as SCA re-enactments and festivals

7.) How do they speak?
Smoothly, lots of body language, well mannered and attentive conversationalist. Low tenor

8.) What is their favorite drink?
All manner of wines and mead... and coffee

9.) What kind of music do they listen to?
All genre, but especially folksongs that call forth a dance... pipes, drums, and stringed instruments. Enjoys singing love songs and drinking rounds.

Here's to hoping that you too, may meet Pan...lol

Well, I thought I would post my own "findings" so we can keep this board rolling

As for me,
The first would be Thor...
He would be a professional Guide, to help support the Organic Farm he runs with Sif.  (Sif would be running the farm while he was off on his treks).  They keep a small number of Tennessee Fainting Goats at the farm as well.  He drives a Ford Bronco and travels with an ever present Golden Retriever (or it might be a Black Lab... not sure - lol).  Back on the farm, several Border Collies do their own work to attempt to keep order among the animals (and Sif and Thor when present)

While Thor is the sort of man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, and is the first to step forward when a family is in trouble or need, his fiery temper has gotten him into trouble many times.  The local sheriff's office knows him on a first name basis, not only for his rescue abilities, but for the almost weekly bar fights he gets into.  The sheriff just shakes his head at each new arrival, gives him some cool down time and once again phones Sif to come pick up her "errant" husband - lol

He carries all his gear in his truck - fly rods, canoe and camping gear, as well as climbing gear.  He is licenced in Outdoor Rescue, and has spent many a waking night out saving some "fool" greenhorn who got in over their head.  Living in Montana, he of course carries the accent.  As for a drink, he likes nothing more that a tall pint of Stout to finish off his day  His favorite movies to date are The Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter series... (he feels a special kinship with Hagrid )

He has an odd friendship with Loki, who was an unwilling participant in a hunting party he took out once.  While he still tries to "save" Loki by showing him the benefits of good outdoor living, Loki inevitably gets Thor emeshed in one of his latest schemes.  The last such event was an eventful chase through the Montana Mountains after Loki unwittingly made a few enemies in the mob...

As for Loki, he is a computer pirate and "techno-nerd" who spends much of his time cracking the codes and infiltrating the top secret data bases run by Odin, a Harley Riding General with Top Level Clearance in the Pentagon.  Anything he can do to irritate the General is undertaken with relish.  He somehow manages to always stay one step ahead of the law.  His favorite drink is a double dram of Single Malt.  Loki's favorite movie to date is "The Matrix"

As soon as I saw this question, I had a reply, this was my first response... BUT... I don't know who she is. The goddess's name still eludes me, but this is what I see...

1.) Who would they be?
The Crone (apparently 55 years old)

2.) What would they be wearing?
She likes to wear comfort clothes , today its a charcoal grey track suit with sneakers. She has a penchant for diamonds and garnets, thinks they go well with everything.

3.) What would they be doing for a living?
Architect/ Interior Design

4.) What mode of transportation would they use?
She drives a black V8 Formula and plans on getting a motorcylce.

5.) What pet (if any) would they keep?
While liking most animals, she perfers the hounds.

6.) What hobbies would they have?
She likes sewing, crafting, weaving, and playing billards

7.) How would they speak?
An animated speaker, expressive, and uses her hands a lot.

8.) What would their favorite drink be?
Depending on the mood.. Scotch or Amaretto

9.) What kind of music would they listen to?
She enjoys all genre.

The Titan Prometheus would live in a really nice house in Seattle and keep a low profile. With his liver healed up after the eagle of Zeus gnawed on it, Prometheus still gets bad cramps while jogging( five miles a day faithfully). The brother of Epimetheus and Atlas watches our world on it's usual slide into the abyss by checking out the news online with his really fast dsl connection. He IM's Herakles alot and they both can't say enough about the shameless foolishness of mortals and the rogues who govern them.
Prometheus would drive a late 90s Acura and wear lotsa of cool yet casual clothes because he's laid back but has unerring fashion sense. He would spend his offtime on hikes in the wilderness areas of Washington and Oregon, teaching magick and meditation, or just sitting with his friends at the hippest yet least well known coffee shop in Jet City.
Long Live the Bringer of Fire!

Well right away Miss Venus beaconed me to write about her.....

Venus....... Always able to look stunning in either a track suit or cat suit. Her pet of choice a small yet adorable toy fawn coloured pomerainiane (looks like a little fox)....of course aptly named Mischief! Car would change daily on her disposition....but always sporty and flashy with vanity plates. Her soft drawl will drive men crazy at a 50 ft hearing range....Hobbies include shopping, dancing and stringing men long....not nessarily in that order.Favorite drink ....free....Music anything with a beat.

Venus would take full advantage of the sexual freedoms that a woman of the 21st century has at her disposal. As a sexually uninhibited woman she would be a stripper by day. Exercising her need for adoration and worship all while being the object of desire and perpetuating the fantasy of love. At night she would be a Dominatrix once again fullfilling her adoration and worship quota and maintaining complete control over her devotee...... NO dumb blonde Venus will have amassed a small fortune after buying out L'oreal ...... This is one Goddess whom even Barbie would be envious.

Hi,
I thought I'd take a full-on stab at this one...
We meet god/esses everday in our lives, they look just like you and me. They work in our workplaces, speak as you and I do, love, live, hurt, cry, eat, sleep and drink as you and I do. The gods are in your life every waking moment, because if we are of god, then we are as god, thus we are our own gods. In most religions you are told that you were created by your god, hence you are god, you came from god's loins.

To me the above statement is about total empowerment, it means that 'we' have all the control of our lives, it means that the very choices we make dictate our direction and lend to the outcome. If you die by accident this evening, it was because of a choice you made to be where you were, doing what you were doing. It's a statement of taking responsibility, of accepting your own faults and failings and directing your fate from that perspective. It doesn't negate the existence of God or as I call it, the Creator or Great Mystery, it acknowledges my connection as a child of God, by my admission of my godhood.

In other words.....

I am that I am...
Becoming.

Tay
