Isn't that fun. We've had it on here before but is surely is fun to see it again.
I have lots more hummers this year than usual but have never ever seen a nest. That would be so fun.
Thanks Pamee.

I was just so in awe of this teeny weeny bird, I had to show everyone I know.
We used to have Hummingbirds while living in a small quiet town years ago. Now that we're in the busy city, we rarely see the wee creature, but I remember what a thrill they were to watch. One day as I sat outside on the deck watching them at the feeder, one swooped up no more then a foot or so from my face, hovering there, checking me out, then as fast as it came, it took off for the feeder again. It was as if to say, "Hey, thanks for the nectar, lady" What an honor. OMG, they're so cute!!!! And to think this wee bit of a bird is just that....a bird! By golly, it has wings, a beak, lays eggs, and no bigger than a bug!!
That toothpick SO freaked me out!!
I never saw a nest either, but not sure I'd find it without a magnifying glass! LOL!
Thanks for not minding a repeat post
love&peace~

My feeder is about 6 feet from my chair on the patio. The hummers dive bomb me daily. I can feel the air from their wings they fly so close to me. The little male is a stinker and won't let the females eat.  We see them hover over the patio table every day while we are sitting there, checking out the red lid on  our insect spray. I have been planning to put out another feeder--just set it on the table in front of me and keep the camera aimed at it.
I love watching them.

Hi everybody ! Just thought I would share I live in the bush in the interior of B.C. and have 3 varieties of hummers we have 7 feeders on two acres and they are always busy.  The nests are hard to spot because they blend in with their trees so well they look just like a tree knot! They are so much like a tree knot size appearance etc. I have a real hard time identifying them without eggs in them, and iI know what they look like. They are about the size of a large coin, happy hunting. I read on a blog about someone putting up several feeders, so that all the hummingbirds could eat at once, rather than having one chasing all the others away.  Marianne, in what part of BC are you located?  It sounds like I may be fairly close to you, as I am just across the border in Washington.  I live 8 miles south of Osoyoos, BC.  Are you near there?  Kathy

hummingbirds are territorial and will chase any other hummers away from the feeder they think is theirs even if there is more than one feeder. :)

Hi Birdlady sorry not to have answered sooner just missed your post that's all. I live in the north okanagan east of Lumby on highway six, does that help. Yes even with seven feeders the hummer's wars are still fierce but no matter the lineup is shorter and they seem better fed to me lol. Marianne

We were visiting a neighbor a couple weeks ago, and sitting out on the deck. Guess one likes the smell of the shampoo I use... got it's little self tangled in my hair.
