It's 5:25 a.m. and I can't sleep -- sooo --- I thought I'd come out of lurk mode some more and be the one to start the August Whistle.

Not used to being here by myself and so much stuff is going on in m head about the move. Also hungry so I guess I'll head to the kitchen for some cereal. I just took a shower so I can't even try to go back to sleep until I blow dry it.

Been thinking a lot more again about getting a bird. I know I will wnt to make friends with people in Ohio -- maybe I can find a couple who have birds. I can learn more and get Rick used to me talking with people about birds without me actually bringing up the topic of ME getting one until he has a chance to settle into his new job for a few months.

Then MAYBE, if he asks me what I want for Christmas?

I want to get a bird from a breeder who has socialized the baby from early on and has "abundantly weaned". I always worry about birds that are in pet stores. I can't resist looking in the  bird section when I take Squirt in for a bath. A couple of times a year our local PetSmart has a CAG or B&GM and I just wonder where they came from and if they are happy. Last week they had a CAG who seemed OK -- was sleeping with one foot up. when I had budgies and my 'tiel that was always a sign that they were relaxed.

Just hope that my hubby will get ok with me having a bird.

Trip north with the flock and the dogs. Tornado warnings, almost turned around. Forgot one colapsable cage, so AR is spending the day on the corner perch, and night in the carrier.
Bird fair on Saturday, picked up feed for the flock to be mixed with their Harrison's. Also bought a huge macaw cage. 7 feet tall, by 40" wide and 40" deep. I'll have to do some sesrious rearranging to get that south, as well as the birds... unless hubby gets the weekend off, then he can bring it down in the truck, but the possibilities of that aren't looking good, so may be unloading it one section at a time.
Was able to talk to several about my favorite subjects, adopting, Angel-Rose, and Sailor.
Spent yesterrday with little brain activity, and less body movement. Actually slept most of the night.
Was able to get appointment at noon to get my new c-pap machine, so will be able to load up tonight, and take off back south in the morning.
Height of ambition this morning... picked up the phone to use it, and was grossed out... Think certain male members don't think about washing hands before using the WHITE phone... Took me 10 minutes with a toothbrush to see white again.

We woke up to 40 degree temperatures this morning at 6:00AM and I'm still not motivated to do much.
Today is Twiggy's fav day of the month; when I call all the members of our care home society and remind them of our meeting on Wednesday.  I usually have my calls done by now and Twiggy repeats most of my calls and just has a grand time playing dialing the phone and giggling.  It just makes her day.

I just have the "Don'ts" today.. Don't wanna do nothing!

Maybe if the sun comes out and warms things up I'll get going.  di

I feel like Di!  Unlike there - here we woke to 75 degrees and about that in humidity!  Was awake most of the night listening to mother natures loud music and watching the lightshow through our eyelids.  Major storm!  Flash floods everywhere!  Still going on at intervals today.  Apparently, this is the reminants of Dean.
Anyway - haven't felt like doing anything except lounge!

Managed to get into the doc to get the new c-pap... alergies stink.
But will be able to leave tomorrow morning, instead of wednesday or thursday... Hoping no tornado warnings or storms on the way back.
Hubby will be bringing the new cage down this weekend.... what a treat, 3 weekends in a row with my darling!

My son has a c-pap; I feel bad for anyone having to wear one of those.  He has sleep apnea.  Do you need yours to sleep or do you put it on during the day to treat allergies?

Those little machines can be a pain for the other person in the bed.  I've pretty much become used to rolling over to see what looks to be a pretty large size pilot sleeping next to me.  I could never imagine someone being able to sleep with all that contraption on, but Bob can only sleep with it.  Not do to apnea but because his lungs will not properly fill with oxygen while he's laying down....this machine which his oxygen is also pumped through, forces the oxygen into his lungs so that he'll be able to sleep better while getting oxygen needed.
We're still in a big drought.....no rain for about 2 months now and the temps still go over 100 daily.  Trees are breaking and falling...terrible.  Getting more and more birds and animals up for water and food.  Lots of hummers and butterflies at the feeders too...so neat to see those butterflies flittering about.  I'll be so glad to get more bushes and some little trees out on our back hill....so afraid some big rain will come and just wash us right down the hill and in to the neighbor's pond.

I don't think I could sleep with one either, but I guess when it becomes absolutely necessary, a person does what he has to do.  And the spouse does, too.
Hubby has just occasional bouts of it....hope it doesn't get worse.

I just want to share with you all the wonders of today!  I'm having the best birthday ever along with my youngest daughter who was born onmy 29th birthday.

I turned 67 today and was first greeted by the wonderful spectale of nature celebrating our birthday with the total eclipse of the moon.... I hope some of you actually got to experience the wonderment of seeing the moon turn into a beautiful glowing ember in the sky!  Along with the sky being dark her we got to see the stars looking like diamonds laid out on lucious black velvet, which is something we don't get to see very often living right on the coast.  It was a night to remember...and to think it happened just especially for me!!!

We also awoke at 7:30 to 70 degree weather, which is unusual and now it is 74!

Shelley came over to help us work in the yard today and she cut down  some trees and other heavy things of that nature that Don and I needed some assistance with.  Then we celebrated our birthdays at lunch time with root-beer floats and exchanged gifts.  I hope we didn't wear her out too much as I think she's going out to celebrate with friends tonight.

My east coast daughters sent me a beautiful arrangement  of white orchids and Sarah and I have spolen on the phone several times and she sent me a gift card for Jo-anns Fabric store.  Don and I don't usually exchange gifts, but he gave me a wonderful card that started out with the sentiment :  "Each age has it's own beauty"  which I thought was very loving for an old geezer to give to an old gal like me.

I couldn't have had a more wonderful day.  di

Happy Birthday, Di!  It sounds like a heavenly day for you and Shelley.

I was born on my grandmothers 50th birthday, and mutual birthdays are especially fun.

We are on our way to the hospital right now as my daughter in finally in labor with our 10th grandchild.  If he hurries, he can share a birthday with you and Shelley.  I'll let you know if he makes it before midnight.

Happy Birthday, Di.

Sounds like you had a terrific day.

I was talking with my sis in law last night and she commented that she could see the man in the moon. She was up on a hill in a campground in eastern OK. She can't get a signal in her motor home in that area. I went to look and sure enough it looked like a big fat face. She didn't know there was to be an eclipse. Nobody watched it in our family. Saw it on the news tonight.

What a neat day, Di!  I hope it continues the rest of your life.  I've seen a couple of total lunar eclipses...they are awesome.  The first one I ever saw was when Bob and I first met and we were traveling in different vehicles....the sky was perfectly clear so we could witness the whole event.  Funny thing is we didn't even know it was to happen and we chatted back and forth for several minutes discussing on just what the heck was happening to the moon anyway.  Was the next day we found out that it was a lunar eclipse.
I'm up so late tonight.....dang....waiting for the laundry to get done and I think I'll clean the oven.  Does this sound like an exciting night?

Hard for me to believe that August has come and nearly gone already!  What is more amazing - I've been in Nevada for three months!

School has started back up here - even little Buzzy has gone back to his learnin's.

That is so cute!
On a closer look, that abacus looks like an actual one that a child could use.  Very nice.  Is is actually a birdie toy??

Maggy,
The toy actually came from the dollar store so a guess would be that it was made for humans.  Buz isn't a chewer and enjoys just sitting and moving the beads around.  Sometimes if he's in a grumpy mood or is awakened from a nap - he'll REALLY move the beads around.

Buzzy is so adorable, and that really is a great picture.  We didn't have much in the way of dollar stores where I live, and now there are several, so I have to make a stop to one (or all) of them and look for some toys like that.
