God is very blunt about the danger of living for the here and now and adopting the values, priorities, and lifestyles of the world around us when we flirt with the temptations of this world, God calls it spirit adulatory

Day 6 my write up

You now when I read that I was like okay let me think
okay my life maybe 60- 70 years if I am blessed to eternity - yeah Life on earth is temporary

Like a top off some where kinda like what I am going through now dealing with hotels and traveling till I get to my final resting grounds on earth... Scotland ..... yeah I see it now...

I laughed whne I made the green card.. it was inspired by what Rick wrote.. and yeah I loved the comments but it is true we are (those who chose Jesus Christ) are Heaven Residents I became one December 3 2003

Think I will have mine printed out and lamentated (May offer it to those that want it... I enjoyed making it...

you know I read that part about spiritual adultery when you want material stuff and I looked at what I have   my laptop and two suitcases.... and me.. right now.. rest is in Scotland.. and if I was to lose any of it yeah I would be crushed... but losing my faith suprecedes them any day....

thought it was neat how it talked about being ambassodors for Christ but for that it talked bout being in your country then going to another country to represent your country

that is how we are here on earth so we are not to love this (country - earth) more then our country - Heaven Amen!!!

Question to consider - how should the fact life on earth is temorary assignment change the way I am living right now?

Well for one

1.Stop wanting to live for ppl - lol - live for God
2. stop wanting everything, I am a pack rat - my word the boxed that I shipped to Scotland .... lol
3. be stewards of the word..... now that means ???????
spread the word
read the word
be the word - in other words (shine the LIGHT)

Father thanks for your word and your enlightenment.. your precious name amen

DAY SIX

LIFE IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT

Lord remind me how brief my time on earth will be.  Remind me that my
days are numbered and life is fleeing away.  Psalm 39:4 (NLT)

I am here on earth for just a little while.  Psalm 119:19 (TEV)

There is comfort in the above.  Whilst we are in the midst of pain
we know too these things will pass and better times will come,
whether here on earth or in our true home in heaven.

Peter says, "if you call God your Father, live your time as temporary residents
here on earth".

The Bible says, "Friends, this world is not your home, so don't make yourselves
cozy in it.  Don't indulge your ego at the expense of your soul".  1 Peter 2:11 (Msg)

.... in this world ... it's easy to forget that the pursuit of happiness is not what life is.

The things we see are here today, gone tomorrow.  But the things we can't see
now will last forever.  2 Corinthians 4:18 (Msg)

In order to keep us from becoming too attached to earth, God allows to
feel a significant amount of discontent and dissatisfaction in this life - longings
that will never be fulfilled on this side of eternity.  We're not completely happy
here cos we're not supposed to be!  Earth is not our final home:  we were
created for something much better.

You will have happy moments here, but nothing compared for what God has
planned for you.

Live your life ......... so God is not ashamed to be called your God ....
Hebrews 11:13,16 (NCV)

Your time on earth is not the complete story of your life.  You must wait
until heaven for the rest of your chapters.

You will not be in heaven two seconds before you cry out, "Why did I
place so much importance on things that were so temporary?  What was
I thinking?  Why did I waste so much time, energy and concern on what
wasn't going to last?"

When life gets tough, when you're overwhelmed with doubt, or when you
wonder if living for Christ is worth the effort, remember that you are not
home yet.  At death you wont leave home - you'll GO home.

QTC  How should the fact that living on earth is just a temporary assignment
change the way I am living right now?

I should live my life for God.  It is not about me.  It is about God.  In the
next life too.  I should live in love of God, adoration and worship of
God, Jesus, and showing love for all.  I should live in purity and
righteousness.  I should be ready to lay down my life for my friends.
I should live in obedience to God and do the Will of God.  Always
prayer.  I should live so my God is not ashamed to call me His Child.

40 Day challenge continues...

Day 6-- Life is a Temporary Assignment

To make the best use of your life, you must never forget two truths: First, compared with eternity, life is extremely brief. Second, earth is only a temporary residence. You won't be here long, so don't get too attached. Ask God to help you see life on earth as he sees it. David prayed, "Lord, help me to realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me to know that I am here for but a moment more."

In order to keep us from becoming too attached to earth, God allows us to feel a significant amount of discontent and dissatisfaction in life--longings that will never be fulfilled on this side of eternity. We're not completely happy here because we're not supposed to be! Earth is not our final home; we were created for something much better.

In God's eyes, the greatest heroes of faith are not those who achieve prosperity, success, and power in this life, but those who treat this life as a temporary assignment and serve faithfully, expecting their promised reward in eternity. Your time on earth is not the complete story of your life. You must wait until heaven for the rest of the chapters. It takes faith to live on earth as a foreigner.

When life gets tough, when you're overwhelmed with doubt, or when you wonder if living for Christ is worth the effort, remember that you are not home yet. At death you won't leave home--you'll go home.
