Mindfullness

Begin this meditation by bringing your attention to your breathing. You may want to start with Counting the Breath. If you notice thoughts arising, acknowledge them, accept them, and allow them to pass through you. Do the same with any emotions you may feel, any physical sensations, any distracting sounds. Do not judge them or become involved with them, simply acknowledge thier presence, and allow them to pass. If you find yourself getting caught up in a thought or distraction, bring your focus back to your breathing, and continue on from there.

This meditation helps us learn detachment. We can observe our thoughts and our surrounding with passive acceptance without allowing them to engage us. Mindfullness can help us to see things as they truly are.
