Turning it Over

I couldnt help but to laugh when I thought about writing this page.  This prayer has been the biggest blessing at the hardest times in my life. The memories are both wonderful and painful.

Daily life can be so consuming, it is a rat race. Even the most spiritual people can easily get swept up in the momentem, caught up in the race. Having control or the illusion of control in your life will bring you to this prayer every time.

Have you ever seen one of those action movies where the person gets trapped in a narrow hallway and the walls start closing in on them, until the person has the eerie awareness that there is no way out and they're doomed.  Ever get that feeling in life? Where you finally just give up and think that there is just no way out. You've tried everything, you've thought and thought and you've decided that there is absolutly nothing that can change this situation. Lets call that "surrender".

It doesnt need to go that far, but somehow thats where I am normally when I remember this prayer.  I try to remember it earlier, but truth be told.... prying the illusion of control out of my own mind is ... well .... not easy.

This is the one and only prayer I get down on my knees for and usually i'm in quite a state, trying to see thru the tears in my eyes.  I fold my hands in normal prayer style and I ask ... I begg....

"Father, I've tried to do this on my own....and I can not. This problem is bigger than I'm able to handle on my own. Please take my troubles from me, I entrust you with this situation and know that you will solve it. I turn this over to you and have faith"

A strange thing happens with this prayer.  As I turn it over to Spirit I always feel this enormous weight being lifted from my shoulders. Others that I've shared this prayer with have also told me they feel the weight lifted off.  Its always an enormouse relief.  Spirit always takes the situation and resolves it. The key to this is when your turn it over...... you give it away and dont pick it back up ..... allow Spirit to handle it.

Broken Dreams

As children bring their broken toys
With tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God
Because He was my Friend.

But then instead of leaving Him
In peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help
With ways that were my own.

At last I snatched them back and cried,
"How can You be so slow?"
"My child," He said,
"What could I do?"

YOU NEVER DID LET GO!
