Ming Tian Gu (Beating the Heavenly the Heavenly Drum)
The Ming Tian Gu is a simple exercise used to fully awaken the body after meditation. During meditation, chi accumulates in the crown chakra; this exercise helps redistribute the chi to other points in your body.
-
Place your hands over your ears with your middle finger resting on the back of your head, about an inch above where you skull meets your neck
-
Rest your index fingers on top of the middle finger
-
Now slip your index finger off your middle finger and tap the back of your head, below where your middle fingers are placed.
( it should sound like the pounding of a drum in your head)
This should be done a minimum of 3 sets, 9 taps each set.
Massage
This simple massage serves the same purpose as the above exercise.
-
Placing one hand on top of the other and beginning at the crown chakra or ba hui cavity, rub down the back of your head to the base of your neck --- repeat 8 more times.
