I use IE6 . Ive read good reports about Firefox ( new version in Beta) . Has anyone used it. I'm so brainwashed by IE that I hesitate to download Firefox in case I run into problems .

Has anyone got experience of other Browsers ?

I use both depending on which icon I click on and what I am doing. Firefox seems to open more photo types and the movies seem to play the same. It has differant things that it can do such as you can open and keep track of more pages. The big point is at this time it is a little less likely to grab a bug unlike IE6. Also they seem to have as many downloads as IE. I like it and it is fun to use sometimes.

Microsoft just released the final version of IE7.
Available only in USA at this time.

It has the multiple tabs like Firefox.

I haven't tried it yet.
Going to do a full back up first.

We use FireFox here. It's perfect for the company as it insists on dominating everything you do, whether you like it or not. Might be ok for what they want at work but I would not (will never) install it at home.

Anyone can download the new ie7 from microsoft now .. just need authentic windows to download .. I downloaded it but did not think much of it..

As far as Firefox goes, I have not used it myself but have heard that it can stop more spyware infections than what ie does with it's popup blocker.

But like anything I guess it simply comes down to choice ......

I just downloaded it a couple of days ago. once you get your preferances set, which is pretty easy, you just need to fiquire which button does what.
I kinda like it right now but I may not next week...

I just started using IE7 today. So far I don't have any problems. It's a little different but I am finding I like it.
I've used Firefox also and I switched back to IE.

As far as Firefox stopping more spyware infections, that is no longer true. In the past few weeks there have been many "holes" found in Firefox and not all are patch-able yet. There was a time where you had less of a chance of getting viruses on Firefox and that was due to the fact that not as many people were using it so the virus writers were not making as many for it as they were for IE. Now that it has become more popular the bad guys are going after it too.

I've been using IE7 for a few weeks now and so far the only issue I've had is at work; something it did isn't right for my Outlook 2000 and I had to delete it. However, you can't delete it and can't reinstall IE6 so be sure before you install it! At home, I have office xp and have had no issues whatsoever.

LadyS ... You can uninstall IE7.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP
  1. Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."
  2. Click "Add or Remove Programs."
  3. Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove." (If you are running Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview ?March 20 or later, it is not necessary to check "Show Updates.")
  5. Go here and select the appropriate version of Internet Explorer 7 for your operating system.

This is from the IE7 support page found here:
