* Just a little exercise to give my muse a nudge.

WORK, REST AND PLAY.

Mass confusion everywhere.
From Poll Tax riots to Tiananmen Square.
Strikes and protests all over the place.
Front page headlines they did grace.

But amid the chaos, we had fun.
We'd bask all day in the hot summer sun.
Then off to the youth club later that day.
We went there to work, rest and play.

Jeans and T-shirts were the order of the day
When the smiley logos came out to play,
Along with shell suits and Nike trainers.
80's fashions were loud. I wish they were plainer.

I was taxi-ing your generation of fun seekers around town and about,Lynn. Lionel Richie was wafting through the club doors. I used to give the boys a pep talk before they got to the clubs. "The bouncers will tell you : You can't come in! Tell them that if it's okay with them, you'd like to wait. When they see you are in a calm and reasonable frame of mind, they will let you in!" The girls, bless them,as I've mentioned before, were into mooning in the back window of the minibus on the motorway,to let off steam. One girl used to get on the bus with a python[Monty] wrapped around her waist. They had to be a snake lover to dance with her. Those rip roaring eighties! The cheese cloth shell suits are so eighties,as my grand-daughter likes to say!

Ooo-er, Philip! if I were a man, I'd keep away from her! I'd be frightened of snakebites. Yikes!!!

I'd missed this, Lynn, loved the memories of times which I seemed to have missed living abroad then for a while....missed shell suits for one, but did catch them on their way out and, lol, yes, the colours were seldom subduedly schemed.

I have two 'hold on to's'....a black mini cocktail dress which goes back to a decade or two before shell suits and a suede drawstring handled shoulder bag, which believe it or not is in the shops down here as a latest casual item, lol, seven years??? Keep it for a few decades and dig it out when it becomes a fashion statement again,  Zy x

Hmm... I suppose I could always call it an "original" shell suit.

This gave me flashbacks, Lynn. And yup - I've still got my trusty biker's jacket somewhere. (but... it doesn't seem to quite fit anymore!)
