She was sure to be noticed: an equine figure, wearing a baby blue velveteen jacket with tiny mauve rosettes on it. This was accompanied by a long fuschia skirt that was slit midway on the right side and a cream silk blouse with a ruffled front.
Her outfit was complemented with a lilac Hermes scarf and camel-colored strappy horseshoes trimmed with beadwork and lime-green pantyhose. (I was reminded of an explosion in the Hello Kitty factory!) She wore her mane empire-style (to the extent that a horse could do this) and tastefully set it off with tiny cerise barettes.
I asked her if she could be of service. She requested a cocanut mocha frappachino with a light sprinkle of vanilla and a shortbread cookie, and asked when the Mall would open.
"Not until 9:30," I replied.
"Darn,!" she said. "I really needed to get some accessories before my job interview. Turquoise is in this year, according to Vogue for Horses."
"Oh, and what are you," I inquired curiously.
"I'm a clothes horse," she answered.
