So I said ENOUGH! to all these towering stacks of books lollygagging around & proceeded to corrall them in a nice wide bookcase.  This puppy is 3 ft square so I figured I could get lots of books on the shelves, being extra-long.  So I went & pulled what Tudor, Stuart, & Plantagenet stuff I had from the tiny lil narrow bookcase they now resided in, plus culled all my recent Tudory finds from the stacks (denuding them in a shocking fashion, there's maybe 10 books left now LOL).  In an anal-retentive fashion I sorted them into chronological order even  & then neatly put them on the shelves.  The shelves are rather deep so I figured if I got more I could always pile em up in front  but for now, I thunk, I could put some of my royal knicknacks in front of the books & save space elsewhere as well

It's FULL   I left a space for the Denny bio of Catherine Howard that I ordered recently & is coming out in trade paperback at the end of February, but it's FULL.  It's SO full that I had to gather up all the Tudor & Plantagenet novels & haul them BACK to the tiny lil narrow bookshelf  as only the REAL history books would fit

I may as well just leave the other shelf in that narrow one open for future Tudory purchases

Greens needs a book room  as I am getting too crowded having random bookcases all over the place

Once, sometimes twice, a year I go to Hay-on-Wye which is the secondhand book capital of the world. It is a small town with a population of about 10,000 but it has around 25 bookshops, including two of the biggest in the world in a former fire station and a former cinema, each with three floors. I'm building up a library of books on British history and branching out into European too. You name it Hay-on-Wye will have it.

I have one bookshelf devoted to Tudor History, it is at least 61/2 feet tall and it is full to the brim.  I also put my books in chronological order.  It is my pride and joy and I will add as many book cases as it takes to hold my collection.  I have 2 other book cases too that have other types of books on them  but all my Tudors reside in their own shelf for now!

That's what I need, a great big tall one like that.  Is yours bolted to the wall?  A friend of mine who knows a lot about such things said tis dangerous to have a great big bookcase full of heavy books like that & not have it secured in some fashion as it could suddenly pitch forward someday on you   I have 2 issues, one is that I rent & not own, so I cannot be bolting things to walls , & the other is that my apartment has what they like to call an "open floor plan".  Not no more LOL because I created walls with bookcases

No I don't have it bolted to the wall, I have had it for years and never had the pitching issue, may be a good idea to secure it though.

I think if I had my way my apartment would be wall to wall bookcases and one chair and a lamp, oh, and a bed.  I love to read and can spend all day with a book.

LOL, I just bought a new computer.  It's not hooked up to internet yet!  Mostly I go online at work, during breaks and lunch.

Will be nicer to be online at home so I can spend more time with my Tudor pals.
