ORIGINAL BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS


Ingredients

ORIGINAL RECIPE BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS

(from originator: Anchor Bar and Restaurant, Buffalo  NY)
 
 
NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED OR CALORIE CONSCIOUS!!!
 
 
Makes 20 wings
 
 
Ingredients:
 
20 large chicken wings split into drum and flat (discard wingette or save for soup stock)
 
1 stick sweet cream salted butter (not margerine...too watery)
 
Franks Red Hot Sauce ( not Tobassco)
 
2  Tablespoons  honey
 
1 teaspoon onion powder
 
1 teaspoon garlic powder
 
carrot and celery sticks
 
1 cup Blue Cheese dressing/dip (I make a mix of 1 tsp sugar, and equal parts blue cheese dressing {1/2cup} and mayo {1/2 cup}for my dip)
 
 

Procedure

Melt butter in small pot.  Add hot sauce. 
 
20 squirts/shakes = {approx 1 tbsp}=mild
40 = medium
60 = hot 
80 = ten alarm fire
 
 
Add honey, onion and garlic powder to pot and stir.
Keep warm over low heat.
 
Deep fry wings until golden and crispy....timing depends on temp of oil and type used.
 
Drain wings on paper towels. Put in large bowl with cover.  Add sauce and shake, shake, shake. 
 
Serve on platter with carrot/celery sticks and blue cheese dip. 
 
Mmmm-mmmm good!!!!
 
(also great on the grill.....deep fry, coat with sauce and grill a few minutes on each side.)
