I have checked the English BDMs on line and the English census results. These only provide her name at the time (ie married) and middle initials along with his year of birth only.

Well this is what I have found on Edward Eden so far.  I think from what you say that you have seen the 1881 census but I will post it here anyway.

The Australian electoral rolls has his middle name as Chettoe, however I thought it must have been a typo having seen the English BDM/Census, however it would appear the typo was the English entries. Would have been nice to know the exact date in Sept 1875 he was born, but at least we are closer now.

The above record only shows that Edward's birth was registered in the July/Aug/Sep quarter of 1875. 

 

Here is the record from the IGI  (sorry I omitted to send it last night - it was very late).  You will see that he was actually born on 13 June 1875.
