Hi Folks;

Well hopefully we at least gave Bob a leg-up on his quest and so we must move on to Gail with "WIGGINTON, SIMMONS, ADAMS, WILSON, GODDARD", posted on 31 Oct 2002, and updated on 6 Dec 2002. A gist of Gail's messages follows:

Looking for Charles WIGGINTON's parents and Jeremiah ADAMS
ADAMS, Jeremiah Franklin b.4 Feb 1847 d. 25 Feb 1910 Preston, IL, md. Margaret WILSON 25 Mar 1879
ADAMS, Jeremiah b. 27 Aug 1801 d. 15 May 1853 Chester, Randolph Co., IL
GODDARD, Rebecca A. b. 30 Jun 1815 d. 19 Mar 1884 unk
GODDARD, Reuben b. May 1793 d. 4 Apr 1827 Sparta, Randolph, IL
WILSON, Edward Howard b. 24 Dec 1821 d. 25 Apr 1884 Baldwin, Ranodlph, IL
WILSON, John b. 1784
McDONALD, Susannah b. 28 Jan 1830 d. 26 Feb 1898 Baldwin, Randolph, IL
McDONALD, James b. 16 Apr 1799 d. 16 May 1840 Preston, Randolph, IL
WIGGINTON, Albert b. 31 May 1872 d. 2 Aug 1945 Colorado Springs, CO
WIGGINTON, Charles W. b. 25 Jan 1836 d. 10 may 1904 buried in cemetary behind Fairview Baptist Church loc outside Sparta, IL,
md. Melissa SIMMONS b.12 June 1841 d. 24 Feb 1906 also buried in cemetary behind Fairview Baptist Church

Gail has tried to reach someone at the church with no luck -- if someone knows how to reach the pastor she would appreciate an e-mail with the info. Gail, do you care to update again?

After Gail comes Okie (aka Carol) with FOSSEDAL/SHOGREN, originally posted on 17 Nov. 2002. A gist of Carol's combined postings follows:
G-Grandfather: Neils/Nels Fossedal/ (var. Fossedel, Fossedahl, nee ANDERSON)
b. 27 Jun 1856 Voss Norway, d. 7 Dec 1926 Cook Co. Hospital,
bur. 11 Dec 1926 "M. Ohio??"--may not be an M, or could be Mt., but is pretty sure it says Ohio.
Trade: Carpenter--had his own business in Chicago, also worked at Sampson Tractor Co. in Janesville.
Immigrated: 1882, Naturalized: 1892
Notes: FOSSEDAL was a name Nels made up when he came to the US. His real name was Nels ANDERSON.

G-Grandmother: Inga SHOGREN (var. SJOGREN)
b. ???? Sweden,
d. Nekoosa WI Sep 1915
bur. ???, WI
Children:
Arthur b. 1903, Chicago--Arthur worked at the Sampson Tractor Factory in Janesville WI in 1920

Mildred Catherine FOSSEDAL
b.1905 Janesville, WI
d. ???? OK
Notes: This is Carol's grandmother, she left her family in the early 20's to go to Rockford IL w/ John MISKELLY, whom she later married. MISKELLY left a wife and family in Janesville. They moved to OK in 1928.

Elmer b. 1908, Chicago

Walter b. 1910, Chicago

Helen b. 1908, Chicago, m. (fnu) Skelly

Robert b. prob. June 1915 Nekoosa WI--adopted upon Inga's death by the HANSEN family of Nekoosa. He was a Chicago fireman & m. Lillian (lnu)

Notes: Carol has the DOD of all of her grandmother's siblings. The family moved from WI to Chicago & then back again after Nels lost his business. Their house in Nekoosa burned down in Dec 1915 and all of the kids were farmed out. In 1920 they were all in Janesville, WI. They also resided in Port Edwards Village, Wood Co., WI at one time. In 1930, two of them worked for the Merrick Dairy in Janesville.

Carol's brickwalls follow:
1) she can't go further back than Nels & Inga,
2) she needs 1910 census for Nels & Inga FOSSEDAL, in Chicago.
3) she needs 1900 census for Nels & Inga ANDERSON or FOSSEDAL in Chicago
4) she needs to know where Nels is buried--doesn't believe there is a headstone for Nels,
5) exact date of death for Inga

"If ANYONE has any other ideas, I will take them and RUN with them, and I am very grateful to all IKK brainstormers. You guys are great"

*****
After Carol will be Katy* with JOHNSON, WOOD posted on 5 Dec 2002. A gist of Katy's posting follows:
G-G-Grandfather: Harvey JOHNSON, possibley J. Harvey,
b. 1829 Canada

G-G-Grandmother: Rebecca J WOOD,
b. 1837 PA/OH

Located: McDonough Co. IL or Prairie City? TN in 1860 & 1870

Child
Mary Francis JOHNSON (Katy's g-grandmother)
b. 1861 TN or McDonough county, IL.
m. Harvey (lnu) Fayette Co. OH
Location: Fremont NE, where they are buried.

Katy is looking for relatives who may have moved to NE w/ them. Possibly a James L WOOD, or another JOHNSON. They may have had something to do with Pawnee Indians, she's not sure.

Katy, I tried to send you a preview of this mesage but it was kicked back because your e-mail address was no longer valid. Would you care to update/respond?

Cheers, Wayne

Hi All -- I have no new information - just hoping someone will recognize these names.  Wish I could find more information on the little cemetery behind the Fairview Baptist Church outside of Sparta.  Love this site - even though I don't contribute.  Thanks so much, Earllyn

I know this census date is several months after J. F. Adam's death but the facts that his dad was b. in Va, his wife is named Margret and that its in Baldwin Pct. made me include this entry. Its possible they were listing anybody who died within the census year. Enumerators did some funny things.

good morning, this is katy, everything you have is correct, but the tennessee that is mentioned is a town in mcdonough county illinois. that is where mary francis johnson was born. maybe it doesn't exist anymore. they lived in illinois from around 1855 until maybe 1870. not sure if there are relatives that stayed in mcdonough, or nearby counties, since most moved with relatives. harvey johnson was said to have been born in canada, but his mother/father born in delaware. the woods family were in pa/oh/tn.  thank you very much for your time. i am a traveling healthcare worker, and sometimes when i get home the email is so full, i do not get any messages from the group for 2 weeks. sorry thanks again katy

Hi All at IKK -- I am so appreciative of all the time and effort spent finding my Adams/Goddard/Wigginton folks.  For our 50th anniversary -our kids have given us a trip to Illinois to walk old cemeteries and hopefully find some things at the court house ect. To say I am excited is to put it mildly.  I can't believe the willingness to take your time and look up things for others -- it is so wonderful of you all -- Thank you a million!   Earllyn (Gail)

You're very welcome, Earllyn - that's what we're here for and knowing the team's hard work is appreciated makes it all worthwhile.  What a wonderful anniversary gift your children have given you!  Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby.  Enjoy your trip to IL - we hope you find lots of goodies!

Just for fun, I did a search on MyTrees.com for good old Nils and Inga.  While I didn't find much data, there was info on someone who submitted a tree: <DIR>

From MyTrees.com--Neils Fossedal & Inga Shogem, parents of Arthur (born 9 July 1903 in Illinois). Arthur married Adda Tracy (born 9 August 1908 in Oakdale, Wisconsin) on 27 June 1928 in Tomah, Wisconsin. Submitter: James E. Roof, 8564 Taft Court P.O. Box 2516, Yucca Valley, California 92286/619-365-3309/email: [email protected] (No more info about "Neils" and Inga.)
