I just got my cookie press and I'm trying to make cookies. I can't get the press to release the cookies. Am I doing something wrong?  I set it right on the stone and press, it goes through the press but doesn't stick to the stone.  I've read the directions but I still can't get it to work! I guess maybe that's why I have so many customers tell me they hate the cookie press. I'm sure once you figure it out it's great but right now I am frustrated!!!

Thanks for any help or tips

Vickie

Try pressing twice, sometimes I have to do that.

Here's a good doc. with Cookie Press Tips...  CLICK HERE!!!

Try it on parchment paper.  Click twice, hold for a couple seconds and give it a 1/4 turn.

The cookie press and I are not very good friends.  We tried working on our relationship last winter without too much progress.  Think it's about time to try to work things out again!

Thank you!!  I did add more flour and it did seem to help but the bugger is a lot harder to use than I thought it would be!!  The only disc that is working for me is the 5 petal flower.  I guess I shouldn't have tried the wreath until I figure it out.  Anyway, it is working but not perfectly yet. I'll keep on trying!!!

Thanks again!  The attachment is one I haven't seen before and the tips really do help!

Your dough needs to be warm.  I fill my kitchen sink about 1/2 way with HOT water, then set my SS bowl in there with the dough in it.  Keeps the dough nice and supple.

You can also knead it with your hands until it no longer feels cold, but that's too messy for me.  LOL!

Deb has a good suggestion..kneading it with your fingers a little bit helps to blend the butter with the flour better.

Hey, did you check out our Christmas Central Page2? It has a link to a SPRITZ Cookies.... thread I posted a couple of days ago. I will go to the that thread & bump it up for you anyway. I have NEVER had a problem using this recipe or any of its variations with my PC Cookie Press. I personally prefer the taste of it over the All Occassion Cookies recipe, hands down!! It's MUCH richer in taste & texture IMO.
