Eliza Rikus married James Hardman Clemishaw, b: Mar 1878 in Bury, d: Oct 23, 1944 in Elton, Lanc (nr Bury). If you want more you can email
A Mr Cleminshaw married my ancestor, Eliza Rickus in Bury, Lancs in 1918. I am seeking information on that branch as my family came to Australia and inevitably lost contact with family at home. Eliza was the daughter of Kate Rickus, and was born in London in 1895. Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Now the person who posted is a girl called Kim living in Australia

Hi Jackie,

Since I didn't know the married names of Ernest's sisters, Sarah Ann and Florence, I looked for their brother Walter in the 1920 Census.

I was surprised to find his mother Martha Jane was still alive and living with Walter and a GRANDSON ..John E. Gardner.

Walter Clementson  22 son
John E Garden (Gardner?)12 grandson..born Massachusetts

The search for the grandson John Gardner in the 1910 census  was difficult because the only family found had the wife of David A Gardner listed as Elizabeth. She was born in 1879 England and arrived in 1884.
Was there another child born to Martha and Walter  E. ?

The name was so  badly transcribed in the index.  In the original census image the name is faded  but  Gardner can be made out.

I noticed that the last family group didn't seem to fit into the puzzle correctly.  I also noticed that the letter "W" was misplaced by an "M". Could that have made a difference?  Just curious!

Also, how would I fix that? The spelling in all other E's have been correct until now! I think anyway!

I am so thrilled about this family histroy.  Thank you So!  I can tell though, you are enjoying what you are doing!  Good for You!

Respectfully, Jackie  NOT JUDY

Hi Jackie... Not Judy

Sorry about that ,those wee hours of the morning play tricks on  me.
I didn't realize the error of my ways until I read the response, that I had posted to the message board.

As far as the last letter of the name being transcribed as "M" and not "W"  it is just how  the indexer read the copy of the census.

If you go to the above obit that Mike found, (by the way he is the best at sleuthing out information.) you will see that  all the names match this family of Walter Clemishaw.
Children _Walter_ Alice_ Esther.

I have saved  images of  the census years, let me know if you wish me to export them to your personal e-mail.

I can't  post all of them to the Board for lack of storage space available to the Group.

Follow through on your recent post:
 Down To The Basics
  • On the screen I have a small heart "recomend"
  • What is that for
  •
I have never used this option. I hit the heart on your first message to the Group and it says 1 recommendation so far

Let's see where that  ends up on the group boards

    Take care,
    jelora
