I'm reading a new patricia Cornwell one called Portrait of a killer case closed. It's actually all on Jack the ripper she goes into great forensic detail and has what she believe to of solved the mystery behind the ripper. I cant put it down its an amazing read. On my murder stories site i have written about unsolved mysteries and from what i have read on the ripper in Cornwells book has really got me questioning it i think she is right on who it was an i hope she is.

I have heard of this book by Patricia Cornwell, its supposed to be really good, I read book reviews about it. The ripper case has always intrigued people hasnt it??
Patricia Cornwell is one of those women who are have really interesting and passionate personality . Did you ever see the programme she did a little while back about "the body farm??" a real place in the US that is has real dead human bodies kept in all sorts of adverse conditions. They are donated by the people themselves and I think some homeless people are placed there . The forensic people moniter the bodies until they decompose. The conditions of the bodies help solve murder case's. Its quite a detailed subject to describe here really and not exactly nice..sorry

The body farm has caused much controvesy and has been threatened with closure by the local people many times

just like to add I  have read one of her books some time back.

thanks

They have the body farms all over the US now??
thats amazing, I had no idea.
I remember the programme only ever mentioned the one body farm as I think it was a fairly new concept. From what I gather ,it was located in Philadelphia?? or Virginia as you say..which holds quite a strong religious presence..( but then there are many states that do I think ) .
The residents there opposed it on the grounds it was morally wrong and against the the word of the Lord.
My own views on this is that you have to separate the emotional side/morality issue from the purely scientific one.
It helps solve, as you say, murder cases.

the Jack the ripper case has baffled people for decades has'nt it?? I do know I have watched the movies and some documentries. They always alleged it was linked to royalty was it or someone with a high standing in public life??

Kay Scarpatta , thats the name I remember, I have read one of them with her in it.
I think Patricia Cornwell is lesbian isnt she?? or do I just think it??

Getting slightly away from this sorry, has anyone read the silence of the lambs ?? and then Hannibal and red dragon?? what did you think of any of them??

thanks for replies.

Thanks Phoebe for the tip...got my copy from ebay...just got to await its arrival.I've always been fascinated by the Ripper.(sounds awful!).The Yorkshire Ripper had a huge effect on my late teens...i studied in Newcastle where the bogus voice was from,& one of my schoolfriends was a friend to the Leeds student he killed. Then a friend & i went right past where he was caught on that night in Sheffield! Spooky!
