Usually, I don't like being categorised, steriotyped, but I feel the description, 'butch' or 'femme' is just a harmless way of giving others an idea of what we look like. I don't feel either is insulting. But again, some lesbians don't like using these descriptions, or categories... What about you???? Jan x x x ps... I'm femme by appearance, but butch by nature.... lmao...... |

hiya Ms Kelly, was that the european market stalls that they have started doing in Liverpool church street - if it is - it's once a month from Friday until the Sunday and that salami is fab..... and the sweets............and the cheese i love stalls like that it reminds me of being in Italy. The only problem with the events is that there are no warnings or notices letting you know when they are coming into town. I wish i had known, i wanted some shrubs/trees as there is a great gardening stall. |

it's not about the wrapping, it's about what's going on inside that matters |

Being butch or femme is about whats on the inside. Does this make sense. |

As I am new to all this, my first thoughts were not to put labels on people, but I have since learnt in some there is definately a difference. Myself a Femme, love everything girly, but hate cooking. And as you can see my favourite colour is pink, like most of my clothes. And knowing I'm talking to a butch, helps, as the one I met was right into everything men do, but damn beautiful. But like not into clothes just jeans and shirts. And no makeup. Who cares, as the woman I met said she would have even kicked my ex husbands ass. And that would have been great to see. That's my thoughts so far anyway Anastasia |

I have just been re reading some threads around here , and there is some interesting little points how woman see themselves, As far as my appearance looks, i would call myself and i do see myself as ,"femme" because of how i look, and the way in which i conduct myself in general. but i would say i am 75 % femme and 25% tomgirl though , i dont know why? I dont know if its because of the way i dress, i know i look femme but i know i look abit tomboyish. I dont know if anyone here grasps what i mean ?? I care about what i look like but then you dont have to look "femme" to care about how you look! labels arent good indicators really of who we are and how we care etc as for my personality?? i dont think im ready to discuss it ! |

I don't really mind 'butch' or femme', I see myself as fem but am rather butch in other ways, or should I say strong. The word I hate i'm afraid is 'Dyke' it just sounds awful |
