Sin City
by Frank Miller.
Seen this over the weekend,
I knew it was created from what I gather is an "adult" themed comic, but not familiar with any of the characters at all and the general themes/ background to the stories.
It was four stories in one, somehow I think they were linked ,abit difficult to describe really.
Stars Micky Rourke and Clive Owen, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood and Jessica Alba,( who looks so different with blonde hair) she's looks really great dressed as a cowgirl in the bar;)
It's all created in black and white (monochrome?? with splashes of very muted colour only for certain characters.
I have leafed through some of these adult themed cartoons in bookshops as you can buy absolutely so many of them now and some of the artwork is brilliant and the stories and dialogue can be and I assume on purpose very over the top and dramatic and funny without meaning to be sometimes ( what I think anyway)
even though I'm not familer with Sin City ,I imagined when watching it at first how it would appear in the comic. Some of the scenes looks so good, almost like it is the comic come to life, especially the Micky Rourke story, which was my fave, his acting was great. There was so much over the top emotion about the "broad" called "Goldie".
Elijah Wood has no speaking part but is so strange in it, he looks from what I read the absolute part for this, so like the real character from Sin City.
Sin City is the type of movie you have to 'adapt' to. I liked it and pleased to see something different on offer.
