Hi Jenny, welcome to the group
. There are many of us here with kids of all ages & many who live with partners sharing in the upbringing of kids. Myself, I have a boy of 14 & a girl of 12. I can't answer you specifically as I've not faced your concern, but I know sometimes how aware I feel that my son has no Dad in his life to guide him on issues of growing up. We discuss things openly for all aspects of life so I hope he could ask me if he has worries. One thing I did was to buy him some books on puberty etc, & read them first to check they dealt with the issues how I would. Since Eric is 11, you might find it better to go through some issues around sexuality etc, letting him voice any feelings/worries/thoughts he has. Also, are there male family members who he's close to? It's all perfectly natural to become aware of bodies from all angles, some do this way earlier than others. Eric is following very normal patterns. I get embarrassed talking about sexual matters to my kids, but I've had to learn to do it, to just be open with them. Bring humour into it. Anyhow,I'm sure others will be able to offer advice. My son is now saying to me "Mum, will you please stop walking round with so little on!!!
" Lol!Wishing you all the best. Hope it's a help.
