Hello!
Aww you!
I felt the same, when i first came out. I was 14 (I'm now 20). I told my best friends, but i really wanted to meet other gay people (well, actually, gay girls-i was desperate for a girlfriend!haha). I spent many nites flicking through the gay dating on Teletext; looking through the yellow pages for "gay groups"; watching 'Dyke TV' & Band Of Gold, & reading the problem pages of 'Just Seventeen'. Uuugh, i just felt so helpless & trapped!
One day, i was given a 'Young Scot' book at school & it had useful numbers for gay people in it & i eventually got in touch with a gay group, of which i became a member & continued to be for years (i am currently a volunteer for this group). Through this group i made brilliant friends & met my ex-girlfriend (we were together for 2 & a half years).
So, all you need to do is get in touch with the Gay & Lesbian Switchboard & they may be able to tell you where your nearest Gay & Lesbian group is! Also, you can email me for advice or just a wee chat!
You are right, it is exciting! Don't knock these scared feelings that you have just now, cos they are all part of the experience & the anticipation is part of the fun, too!
Hope to hear from you!
