I tried yesterday and today, to post a picture up in the photo album here. Each time I do, I get a virus warning pop box telling me an intrusion has been blocked then the page I was here is lost and I have to start a brandnew window. Everything is fine when go to post a message. I have all my anti virus and firewall and spyware up to date, everything appears "clean". I have been on the symantec site and looked at the various and many virus around and found the one I keep on getting attacked with whenever I want to post a picture here. I followed the steps but to no avail.. I simply want to know if anyone else here has ever encountered this or anything the similar in here or any other site sorry for leaving this but I was in two minds about posting this but I want to know as this is rather annoying as this laptop appears fine and I just don't know what to do now. thanks for any info given appreciated. hi hun sorry slow to reply not been able to get online are you still having the same problem? i know msn have been doing some work so things have been acting very strange.. the only thing i can think of is maybe your msn photo upload program has become corrupted or deleted, and your firewall, anti virus is stopping the photo upload from downloading.. did it ask you to download it again? let me know if your still having this problem, and give me as much detail as possible, what happens, step by step, and i'll try and find out for you hugs jan x |

Jan I have sat here for like the past nearly hour or so and read your reply and tried to sort this out before replying here, it's been getting on my nerves. I looked at your protect your PC in the left side menu and I uploaded NETSCAPE, because the virus pop always mentioned this name along with MSN in the intrusion attempt that was blocked. Isn't NETSCAPE different from explorer?? It looks really sleek ,I did in a search in it and it always seemed to let me know if the site I was going to visit wasn't encrypted, which I thought was interesting. I am still trying to work out the best way of using it. Though I have heard of this browser before ,having explorer, I suppose you just get used to it, so never think of using another one. I did a search in GOOGLE, with what you mentioned about "msn photo upload" and mentioned also about "unistall". I would'nt know where to look in my laptop for that. I came to a website that was an MSN group for managers of what I gather is MSN groups. I looked in there and hoped..that there would be an answer ,and there was mentioned in there on the boards about uploading pictures ,but it was not anything related to my problem but the very helpful member told them where to look on their PC for the solution. I did the same to find my msn photo upload control...I found it too. This person suggested to their member to delete the msn photo file and upload a new one, but I felt abit "iffy" about doing that, so left it..I will add that in this community group a message was left saying like you did that work in MSN was going on. so I came back here and found in your PROTECT YOUR PC,the msn site "community feedback" and found in generals a question about MSN and NORTON, that was my very problem! and it was recent. So I decided in the end before deleting the photo upload to update instead, just to see... when I right clicked...it updated in a like 2 seconds...I came back here....it was fine! I could'nt believe it ,that has really bothered me. thanks ever so much Jan and I will add that for anyone actually gets to the end of this long winded message that isn't interesting at all ,it is so worth having a look at that community feedback which is in protect your PC on the left menu. It's a great site. whats interesting though, that alot of people in this community group never mentioned about just updating their photo upload, is it depending on what version of windows you have?? for me, I was concerned because it mentioned MSN as being from what I gather the basis of the intrustion that was blocked, it always mentioned it in the pop up I kept getting. I think I may join that very group to let them know that maybe updating may be a solution, the assumption is ,its a firewall, settings problem there and for some, it is, it is along the lines you mentioned about it being a firewall thing etc...someone even mentioned they thought it was a "worm".. thanks alot Jan. MsK. p.s i can't believe I'm up writing this, very sad, but i thought i had a bad virus here i will now watch kylie ,bye |

hi hun glad you sorted this out. so your upload program needed updating? i'd never heard of updating it, but thats prob because i always suggest you delete the old one and start again. it is safe to delete the programs in your temp download folder, i delete mine when i do a clean up, and then just get new ones next time i try to upload or enter chat. thats all they are, msn chat, yahoo chat, msn photo upload, but now and again your computer will let junk get into the folder, stuff you don't use, that just slows down, (or worse) your pc. ok, the spare browser.. netscape.. this is the one i like the least lol just never got used to using it. i keep 3 on my pc. the internet explorer that most people use. i'm always signed into that as manager so i can allow in members, make or update pages, because i find that netscape and mozilla dont work great on msn as they have no rich text. so i cant work on the site in those browsers. the next one i use is mozilla firefox. i'm signed into that as jandancer (using it now) it can be set up very similar to IE (internet explorer) so i find it easier to use, but when you leave messages, there's no rich text, so you cant change font or colour, size, cant add pictures. also, if you upload in that browser, you can only do one picture at a time, no good for me on me animate lol. but, this browser loads pages much faster, not just msn pages but all pages. then netscape, as i said, i use this least. it does load pages quicker than IE, but again, has no rich text, so you cant add pictures to messages, change the font, and when uploading, only one picture at a time. i leave the bot signed into that browser, so when i open it, the bot goes right into chat. so my 3 browsers are needed, as i need to be signed in as different names to do different tasks. i'd still advise anyone to download and keep a second spare, IE browser is easily corrupted, and if you loose that you cant get online, so keeping a spare is common sence. someone in another group asked me.. "would you set out on a long car journey withoput a spare tyre? well why on earth would you not keep a spare browser?" and they are right, its the same concept, your tyre bursts on a journey, and no spare, your not going any further.. you loose your browser on the net, thats the end to your surfing... community feedback.. great group!! everyone should be a member there. i go there with all my own questions, and other peoples if need be. so join msK, someone there will always try and help. two tips for using their group though.. always look for an answer in previous messages before you post a question, (i know i dont need to tell you that msK, thats what you did concerning this lol) they do get fed up answering the same thing 30 times a day. and always state your problem in the message title, dont just write "help" and then others can find an answer when they have the same problem. ok, think ive covered everything, lol, are you still with me? lol well hope you enjoyed your kylie show ;) |
