Learning to Read Auras

The first step is to have a reasonably dimly lit room and a surface with nutral color, netural. Have some one you consider to be "energetically" bright stand against the surface. Begin by looking at their third eye and gradually let your focus become diffuse (soft). It's comparable to looking at one of those holographic pictures.
At first you'll sense (see) a smokey haze around them, sort of like heat energy waves rising off a road. Then you may begin to see a soft luminescent glow. Don't be concerned with color in the beginning...that will come with practice. The first colors may be a soft cloudy white and then yellowish gold. Blues and greens are the next that most people see. Eventually you will be able to differentiate the chakras, the most important thing is not to be discouraged if it doesn't happen right away. It's important to be relaxed while your doing it. Meditation, meditation is a plus in preperation. Don't get concerned with interpreting anything in the beginning just relax and enjoy the light show!
