yoga(tm) : after first degree is second of course
yoga(tm) : and second gets into all kinds of stuff like distance and time
yoga(tm) : you can heal back and forth in time and across distances
yoga(tm) : they use these symbols that you picture and it's supposed to help with it somehow
yoga(tm) : they don't really explain how it works all that well
yoga(tm) : I think it's power of suggestion
yoga(tm) : but maybe that's just me
yoga(tm) : third level is mastery, which doesn't mean they're a master over ki or healing it just means they can teach it
yoga(tm) : nowhere in Reiki does a person learn how to direct ki flow
yoga(tm) : they just act as a channel
yoga(tm) : that's all
yoga(tm) : the rest is up to the will of the universe
yoga(tm) : so a Reiki master is a master of the Reiki system, but not of ki, that's a common misconception
yoga(tm) : personally, I think everyone can become healers without the Reiki system, but Reiki is very expedient, so that's the draw

intense_female : the laying on of hands... and hand placements
intense_female : how does that all work?

yoga(tm) : there are sets of hand placements that you're taught in the beginning
yoga(tm) : you put your hands on the person, and if they are imbalanced, they are like a vacuum as I said before....

intense_female : so your sort of giving energy the pathways

yoga(tm) : so they sort of pull energy through you into them through your hands

intense_female : and opening them up

yoga(tm) : exactly

Laurelovely01 : so with this system....
Laurelovely01 : you can tell where they need healing? or is that left up to the universe?

yoga(tm) : left up to the universe
yoga(tm) : but
yoga(tm) : that's the deal with the hand placements that we're taught
yoga(tm) : they cover the whole body generally so as not to miss anything
yoga(tm) : if your hands get hot or tingle or whatever they do when you know it's working, you sort of spend more time in that spot

intense_female : would you say that after the attunements and working as a healer you begin to develop more of a healing "sense"

yoga(tm) : and of course you ask the person where it hurts
yoga(tm) : yes intense definitely
yoga(tm) : you develop more intuition with it over time, just like with any healing

intense_female : so they basically teach you how to heal "blind" and as your healing senses ripen you become more of an adept

yoga(tm) : you just start to notice the more subtle stuff
yoga(tm) : kind of like that yes intense and with the higher levels you get more sensitive too
yoga(tm) : I think I'm done with what I planned on saying so if there are any questions everyone fire away

yoga(tm) : I don't know Gia, some say it's because cats are better healers than us and so they think we're like children

yoga(tm) : only for first level Laur, second level teaches distance

yoga(tm) : or you can learn distance on your own like I did

yoga(tm) : I started with Reiki and then just expanded on it

yoga(tm) : so I suppose I don't really do Reiki any more lol except when they're right here in front of me

Gia1018 : oh.. you mean long-distance healing

yoga(tm) : well I wanted to learn distance but didn't want to pay 500 bucks
yoga(tm) : yeah

yoga(tm) : so I started looking into how other people did it
yoga(tm) : Oh there is something I wanted to say about Reiki though that I didn't say
yoga(tm) : it's not really about Reiki, just my view on the whole thing
yoga(tm) : it's all in your head really is what I think. You can open your ki channels if you can overcome your doubt

Laurelovely01 : so I'm trying to figure out the difference between Reiki and layin on hands or other systems....the diff is the attunement?

yoga(tm) : it's just that overcoming your doubt is quite a tall order, it takes a long time
yoga(tm) : so someone tells you they're doing it for you, you believe it, and viola

yoga(tm) : yes Laur, the attunement, the placements, etc.

yoga(tm) : it's just part of a system
yoga(tm) : I honestly think if the masters do the whole ki blowing thing lol
yoga(tm) : but if they didn't and just pretended ....
yoga(tm) : do you think it would make a bit of difference if you believed they did it ?
yoga(tm) : If you believed...then it happened as far as you're concerned

intense_female : that's very true yoga... but if you take a sugar pill and it cures your illness is it less valid?

yoga(tm) : no not at all. do what works  I'm just saying it's not all magical

intense_female : lol none of it is once you learn it

yoga(tm) : no I realize that Kaera, I'm just trying to make a point

intense_female : but yeah I appreciate your honesty

Chiguy08 : I think there may be a little more to it than just belief though cause when I got a healing I felt the healers' hand get hot... I'm don't mean warm I meant HOT...does the mind play a part in that?

intense_female : You know yoga after you explained rei ki I can see one brilliant thing in the system.  When I've taught people to heal in the past it always comes with a heavy weight because someone knowing how to heal but not having the hard learned lessons can be dang.
intense_female : dangerous

yoga(tm) : yes intense

intense_female : So really in Reiki they have provided nearly a fail safe beginners course just to get you out there enough to skin your knees up

yoga(tm) : they're not using their own energy so there's no risk in getting wierd stuff

Gia1018 : so you practice Reiki too, intense?

intense_female : yeah it is isn't it Gia

yoga(tm) : Chiguy...

intense_female : no I heal but have no name for it

yoga(tm) : the ki flow makes the hands hot, the ki flow is a real thing
yoga(tm) : all I was saying is that to open the ki pathways... getting rid of doubt is enough

intense_female : Chi the hands are energy centers and one of the first things that happen as a healer gets that energy
intense_female : the hands do heat up quite hot sometimes

intense_female : see for me the attunement happened naturally because I was taking a tai chi class which got my chi flowing
intense_female : my hands began burning and I got online to figure out why
intense_female : so I can understand the "idea" behind the attunements
