To me the devil says..your more focused on the material than the spiritual. Not looking at the shadow side of your nature and releasing old habits that no longer serve you any more. Hanging on to relationships or jobs that you have outgrown, perhaps putting to much emphasis on food and drinks or other things we use to fill the void within us, rather than looking within or up for help and advice. When I look at the card (in most decks) there is usually someone bound to the devil, at anytime you can break this bound and set yourself free. Depending on where the devil comes up in a reading, I know that its time for the person to look within themselves and understand that they are creating this pattern, and once they can understand the part that they play in any predicament they can find a way out on there own. The devil may look like our adversary but he is none other than our inner most self asking us to look at addictive behaviors, unconscious attachments and self imposed limitations. He may also tell us now is the time to lightning up and not take life so seriously. Laughter resolves all things...enjoy life and be joyful rather than point your finger in blame...when you point your finger at another or a situation...look and see how many fingers are pointing back at you.
