THE STRANGER
It’s a long and weary journey the stranger said to me,
As he eyed the blisters on my feet and my tinge of lethargy.
He said ‘Have you been this way before??/FONT>
I said ‘No, these scenes are new,
And not knowing where I really am I’m glad I walk with you?
He said ‘I thought you were a local, familiar with these parts,
The way you dodge the pot holes I thought you new this path by heart?
‘Ah?I said ‘It’s day time and I can see the way,
But if I didn’t have the light I’d just sit here and stay?/FONT>
He said ‘I’ve travelled many journeys and seen a place or two
So if you’re ready for a change I can show them all to you?/FONT>
At first I hesitated, was I really sure,
I’d only planned on this one trip, not a number more.
‘I’m low on provisions?I said with some regret,
‘Ah well when they’re wanted? He said ‘Our needs they will be met?
I thought this sounds exciting and yes I’d like a change
But I’d worry if he left me in some place cold and strange.
The minute that I thought it I looked and he was gone,
So with heavy heart and heavy feet I slowly soldiered on.
I wish I had agreed I said with lowered head,
And as I looked up I could see him standing there ahead.
‘Ah?he said ‘That’s better, and if you really want to see
Do not cloud your vision and put your trust in me?/FONT>
‘It’s a long and weary journey?said the stranger talking on,
Though I still had blisters on my feet, my lethargy was gone.
