Before this exercise is revealed there a a few important points I should mention that pertain to all the exercises in this set, if you look at the pictures you will see that as well as there being a slight bend in the knee thus leaving it unlocked, there is always a bend in the elbows even when extended the reason for this is to keep the energy flow of chi unblocked, this also serves to keep the shoulder joints open and relaxed as well which is important in keeping the chi flow unimpeded to the arms etc
Alternate hands or Supporting heaven with one hand
This exercise stimulates the stomach and spleen
It is advantageous to hips and knees
It helps digestion and cleansing of the blood
It is good for indigestion flatulence wind, and helps free intestinal movement helping to clear constipation.
The stance for this exercise is as for the two previous exercises.
1) On the in breath bring the hands up to the chest level
2) On the out breath move your weight over to your right foot as your hands separate and right arm and hand starts to move upwards and the left one down until the left hand is above the head palm upwards and over head whilst the right hand comes down to the right side palm facing the earth fingers pointing forwards;
3) On the in breath the left hand comes down whilst the right arm comes up till the two arms form the holding ball position in front of the chest On the out breath the hands are returned to the sides......this exercise is now done on the opposite side using opposite movements.....the pattern is done 4 times on each side close the exercise with hands coming up to the dan tien and doing the 5.9....5.8...5.7...5.6...5.5 breathing to stabilize the Chi.
