THE EIGHT BROCADE EXERCISES

This set of eight brocade exercises is one of many  different sets of eight brocades, I make no claim to it be the only true eight brocade or the only real brocade, all the varieties or variations have one thing in common, the cultivation of chi and at the base, the cultivation of soul, he recognition being that just as the body needs a certain form of chi, n the form of food air and water, just so does the spirit for its development and health , the needs of soul though are more refined, its food is more cosmically astral and feeds from energy radiated out from the stars and the energies that surround us coming from the trees the earth and our subtle impressions received via the channel of  sight and the more refined elements of the breath.  The practice of these exercises deals with the physical and psychic bodies bringing health and emotional balance into ones life which is a basic requirement for more advanced practices.  Anyone practicing these exercises if in doubt should consult their doctor...though there is nothing in these exercises that will create problems if practiced with due care and attention, to be mindful in practice is the key, all movements should be gentle not forceful, if practiced in such a manner they will strengthen the body and in the course of time one will be able to extend the movements without strain, if you can find a teacher in your area so much the better.  I wish you all well in your practice.   I will post more at a later date OM DAO.

 Reaching up to Heaven/Supporting Heaven

This posture opens up the meridian known as the triple warmer and brings about the transference from the head to toes.   Its primary function is to  convert impression...{a form of food} to subtle energy, which then helps in the transformation of food and breath energy.
Stand in horse posture...head as though holding up heaven...or as is also said as though on a piece of silk attached at ba hui crown of head.....
Back straight, knees bent, shoulders relaxed.
Breath in to lower abdomen { tan tien ] and feel as though you are rooted into ground.
Once mind and breathing and body are settled, start  the exercise.

On the in breathe float hands up to chest level whilst straightening legs.
On out breath take hands on up over head whilst turning palms outward and upwards, so as to face heaven and come up onto toes.
On the in breathe bring hands back down to chest level, rotating palms to once more face into chest, whilst returning feet to ground.
On out the breathe bring hands back to sides whilst slowly bending knees.

This exercise can be done eight times at least...12 or more if you so desire
