I walk along the ocean strand
 And view the misty sea,
I see the gulls come swooping low
I stop and then they flee.
I gaze to seek a vision there
The haze that shows a sight.
My eyes they strain to make the shape
 That shimmers with the Light
I try so hard, my soul cries out
In pain, for once I walked
Upon this strand with you my Love
Where we just laughed and talked.
Where are you now, my only Love,
 Still here in yesterdays,
Within the memories of my mind
 I never will erase.
 I never cease to visualize
 And hope your image will
 Appear before my very eyes
And let my heart then fill,
And see again the face of one
 I loved so long ago.
Upon this Quayside I will wait
And hope in turn you’ll know.
That though I’m grey and I am aged
You’ll say, you look the same
And take my hand and say it’s time
 To dwell with you again.
And we will rise and with the breeze
 Soar on high and roam,
But if to-night you do not come,
 Again I will go home.
