Whatever happened to love? What have we done to this countrySome of my stuff what have we done to this land, what are we doing to our people nobody seems to want to understand. When the rich get richer and the poor get poorer whatever happened to love thy neighbour? Politicians talk with christian fervour, but vote to kill babies they're in favour! Whatever happened to love? Well you work all your life, to serve or command but end up with nothing no dignity and just a pittance to live on, we go cap in hand to fight for our rights in this green and pleasant land. Whatever happened to love.Dave Hallitt Copyright ©1991 Dave Hallitt Thoughts Where are all the thoughts you've thought today, Where are all the words that you wanted to say, Where are all your memories will they fade away? Will they fade, fade away. When you lay your head upon your bed, are your thoughts and feelings still left unsaid? Do you long to be where you were before, before your heart bled? So all the thoughts you've thought and never said, All your memories that'll never be read, Never let the sun go down until you've said, I'm sorry....your heart bled! Copyright ©2000 Dave Hallitt Divinity Every time I meet you, I meet the divine You bring your world with you, You're history in time, Your presence my friend, I long to enshrine, In the words of this rhyme. To say I love you isn't a crime, Male or female you're like good wine, Without you my life Wouldn't be in time With the rest of creation So sublime. Copyright ©2003 Dave Hallitt It's only two weeks since I saw your face, My love, best friend, my soul mate, I woke in the night aching, missing you, It was dark, silent and you're not there, I close my eyes to imagine you here, I Can't see you, no matter how hard I try, So how can it be, that your image is displaced? From my memory, from my mind's eye, After all these years together And yet so few days away? Why can't I see you, even in silhouette? Shadowed, or veiled? You're gone from my view. It's not as if you've died I've searched and tried hard I've no pictures of me and you, To remind me of your smile, Or your scowl, or of your beauty, I don't understand my vision impaired, You have always been present, In my mind's eye, you were always there, I've no answers to my dread and my despair. What remains is the pain of knowing you're no longer there.Dave Hallitt Copyright ©2004 Dave Hallitt Twin Towers Twin towers of fame, twin towers of shame, New yorks finest, new yorks pain, The dead that we'll never ever see again. The heroes and the villains buried in that grave, The fire and police they could not save, Oh the heartache, nothing will ever be the same again, New yorks finest, new yorks pain, Twin towers of fame, twin towers of shame. Corporate grief, corporate shame, corporate pain, Our acheivements, our goals, our objects our aims, Should all be reconsidered because of that day, September 11th when terrorism rained, And turned the sky black and grey New yorks finest, new yorks pain, Twin towers of fame, twin towers of shame.
