Sunday morning I woke up with my right forearm kinda sore and tender. A few hours later I noticed a pea-sized bump.
Thinking that maybe it was a bug bite, I did not pay too much attention until a few hours later. By then it was the size of a quarter and my skin was hot. I called the advise nurse at the VA hospital and she told me to head to the ER...that it sounded like I had developed an abcess from the chemo.
"Liver" and I took off to Reno. The ER doc looked at it and decided that it was not an abcess, but cellulitis instead, and put me on IV for 2 different antibiotics. I was sent home to two oral antibiotics to take for the next 10 days. Now I need to set up an appointment with my PCP and have him follow up on it, also need to call the clinical nurse in Oncology to see whether this will effect my 4th chemo treatment scheduled for this Friday, and not to mention calling the neuro nurse out in San Fran to see what I need to do because of the DBS (do not know whether to scream or be thankful that it was caught early).
