Brilliant, more avid readers! I absolutely love to read! my fave genre, is fantasy, the likes of eddings, jordan, weis and hickman, books about other worlds, set in other dimensions, with magic, and dragons, and just about anything that ISN'T REAL... They're real, "loose yourself" books, take you away from the humdrum normality of everyday life, into a magical world where anything is possible! Have I sold it to you yet? lmao..... When I'm online, I don't read nearly enough, just not enough hours in a day.... I'm struggling through an oliver johnson triology at the moment, great books, but not the best in 'fantasy' If you like horror JC, have you read the ANNE RICE novels? All the vampire journals. Lestat features in most of them as the main character, and they make the film seem lame in comparison. I'd reccomend them to anyone.... What other book have you both read? luv janx |

Thanx D, just having a look now. noticed the link 'role play instructions' have you ever played any of the online games like this? i made sigs for a girl who played one called 'evergreen' and went to the 'evergreen' sites, to get an idea of what i had to make, and it looked amazing, but a bit too time consuming for me, lol... i've played diablo online, but thats all... and thanx jacx, i got like that (fantasied out, lol) a couple of years ago, i was reading quicker than they could re-stock the shelves, (and i hadn't discovered the concept of reading a book TWICE then, lmao) so i started reading anne rice, vampire journals, they're a mixture, modern day, horror, fantasy, so wide a spectrum in each story. not heard of mandy scott before, but the description sounds good. let us know what you think of it hun. tried reading that kind before, 'real history made fiction, lol, or, fiction based on true history, you know what i mean, lol' but it wasn't realy set in an interesting period, or about stuff that interested me, but found the concept good, just not that particular subject. but be interested to hear what this one's like, it sounds more like my style, lmao...... take care, luv to all janx |

I love reading fantasy fiction - it's a wonderful escape from the real world! I really like Anne McCaffery (her Crystal Singer series is really good), Katherine Kerr, David Eddings and I love Terry Pratchett. He's one of the few authors that has me laughing out loud. One of my favourite series is Daughter of the Empire and its two sequels by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. littlemissnobody |

little miss, thanx for your reply hun, nice to meet you. thats exactly why i read fantasy, its so far from 'real' life. and the fiest and wurts series are amazing! (all the way through reading, I was like 'sod the empire, marry kevin the slave', lol) i love the way the two series of books interwine, have you read all of the 'RIFTWAR' novels, about the wars in which pug, kevin and the others were taken prisoner, and sent through the 'gates' into the world of the tsurranni, where MARA lives? i think raymond fiest may have written these alone. there are about 8 in the series, they start with pug as a young man, and the tsurranni invading, up to after the war, and krondors battles with enemies of thier own world, the dark elves and such. in further books, characters from the 'empire series' come into the krondor novels, and again, the two worlds interwine. here are links to both sites are set out lovely, and are realy easy to navigate, and have lots of info about the authors. thanx again, little miss, and i can reccomend these books to all of you, they are a 'cant put down' read, lol... |

Hi Jan, Good to meet you, and everyone else here, too :-) I tried reading the Riftwar novels but just couldn't get into them but I'm definitely going to check out Janny Wurts site - I love her writing. I've got another recommendation :-) J.V Jones' Book of Words trilogy - they are dark but a good read. I read alot - I've hidden in fantasy books for a long time :-) littlemissnobody |

hi littlemiss think i've read that tri hun, or i've read 'a' triology by j v jones, and loved it! i tend to go for the more old fashioned stuff, castles, dragons, buckets of water, lol, not the sci-fi stuff, space ships. i think the pern novels are as close to sci fi as i enjoy... anyway, thanx foe your reply, it's good to have people to talk books with, i can see it going right over my daughters head when i try to explain a good book to her, lol take care hun luv janx |

If you like Mercedes Lackey, Ramond Feist etc., there's a good chance you will like Anne McCaffrey. She has written about a dozen or so books about dragons, a series about the crystal singer Killashadra - highly recommended and a number of compilations with Mercedes Lackey, Elizabeth Anne Scarborough and Elizabeth Moon. Elizabeth Moon's series about Heris Serrano is also highly recommended although the last book is a little disappointing. If you need more info, give me a shout and I can give you the synopsis of a lot of the books |

hi again snoopy i'm in the middle of his triology, THE LIGHT BRINGER it's the first of his that i've read, so not sure what else he's done. i read number 1, over a year ago, and loved it, even making a note to keep my eyes peeled for the release of number2. so just b4 xmas, i found no's 2&3, so got number 1 out as a reminder, but i'm actualy struggling to read them. it's prob just cos i'm back online, and dont get alot of time to read, cos it is actualy a good story, the same as usual, good v's evil, but in this, the evil is in the form of vampires. i'll have to make the effort to start reading though, lol, i've had them out nearly 3 months, and you know i'll get half way through number3, and someone will book them out, lmao... so who's your favorite author? luv janx |
