Borley Rectory, Essex, UK
Borley Rectory was one of the famous haunted houses in Britain and I have visited it twice in my teens (Foxearth Church though, as the house actually burnt down in a fire).
Because it is so well known it was a hot spot where people would turn up all the time, all ages, day or night - to this day that hasn't changed. I think the local people had quite a hard time, going by reports, because of the all media and public interest over the years. There was numerous things that reportedly occured in the house itself as well things happening in and round the church. I've been fascinated by the rectory and church all my life and from all that I have read about it people are divided on whether the events that went on were true or a hoax (as you get with all stories of this kind anyway)...
Here is a link which provides some pictures and more information - unfortunately the Borley Rectory.com site doesn't appear to be working at the moment.
