John of God

John of God is a famous healer who comes from Brazil and is featured in the BBC television Series "Trust Me I'm a Healer".

The reason I thought of doing a small article on him is because, in his own words, he channels entities and spirits in order to operate on and heal many many people worldwide which gives a link to the paranormal world.

John of God, the son of a tailor, started healing when he was approx 9 years old. People flock from all over the world just to be seen by him and he has carried out many operations on people as well as prescribing various treatments and therapies to hundreds.  I remember reading about him and seeing a photo of him operating on someone with a knife in their eye socket whilst they were fully conscious many year ago.

The is the thing which he is famous for, operating on people without any anesthetic. People do not feel any pain and there is very rarely any blood when he operates on people and no infections. He has carried out removal of growths etc and these are all kept in jars! As well as operating on people, he heals many by channelling spirits and entities and he has named spirits such as King Solomon, St Francis of Asisi and Jesus who do the healing through him.

John of God makes no promises and no guarantees but over 85% of the people who come to visit him have been cured and for this reason they call him the miracle man. John's surgeries (whatever you want to call them) begin at 8am every day and no-on is asked for any money. People visiting are just asked to wear white and to pray throughout the proceedings.  No-one is ever turned away.  In the place where he heals there are lots of people/visitors all meditating/and or praying - it almost looks like a church. People queue for miles just hoping for a chance to see John of God and for him to cure them of incurable diseases, bad injuries and illnesses etc. Not everyone that comes to see him is operated on however, sometimes he just prescribes treatment for them, which is carried out there. For example, in the documentary a woman with terminal breast cancer travelled all the way from the UK to see John as a last resort. Upon seeing John he prescribed her a course of treatment which involved her taking 9 crystal baths. This is a treatment whereby energy is sent through the body by shining lights through crystals. After receiving this treatment the woman again went to see John of God, desparately wanting John of God to operate on her, but again she was refused an operation because she was too weak, she was advised to pray and meditate. There are hundreds of people just the same way who all are looking to be cured when sometimes sadly this does not happen. But the one thing that John of God gives people is hope.

In the documentary, a young doctor with MS also visits John of God for treatment and he talked about the placebo effect that John of God's healing may have on people but he couldnt deny that John of God, a man with no medical qualifications, operates on hundreds of people without the use of anesthetic and without hardly any or no blood or infections.

What is fascinating is the fact that many sick people with growths or tumours etc are now living lives whereby their condition seems to have halted and not got any worse or else they are completely cured and this is all down to John of God apprently healing them by channelling spirits. There is a room which is full of not-needed medical aids which the cured people have dumped there over the years because they are no longer required (wheelchairs, walking sticks and crutches etc). Whatever your own opinions, John of God's healing really is an really interesting topic.
