Hi Legolas, i found it so interesting to read about your experiences and I certainly wouldnt say you had a lack of personal experience (as you put it)..far from it by the sounds of it.

Your first real experience that you described, the hooded figure standing over you sounds very frightening and yet you can remember it all very clearly even though it happend years ago. You say you werent too sure what was going on - do you mean you werent sure that you did actually see this hooded figure? The thing is you remember so much detail so it did happen. Is it that you just don't beleive what you were seeing?? I dont know if youve found the thread in which i talked about one experience I had when I was young - of fingers touching my face every time i closed my eyes until it became more intense and more scary - I will never forget it - I mean i cannot explain what was happening but I do know that it was something paranormal happening even if i cant understand why it happened to me. º°`°º¤ø,¸True Ghost Stories-Part 2º°`°º¤ø,¸

Everything else you have shared with us also fascinates me and it really does sound like you very attuned and also a little bit psychic - i think most of us are, but we are either too scared to pursue it or else we jsut put it down to coincidence. I would love to hear more in detail on the subjects you spoke about.

  Thanks for all the messages , makes me feel really welcome. Back to the hooded figure I talked about standing over me, a week or so later I did a painting of him, which I have just added to Myspace page of pictures called Darkman, its on my wall so I see him every day....At the moment I am reading through my journals to try and find the date of the experience and what my mood was at the time, I tend to drift off when I read them and it takes for ever. Did find an exact date of when I became interested in studying the paranormal...Monday 28th May 1979, I wrote " I must cut down on smoking, paint more beautiful paintings and begin my research into the supernatural."

 Will cpoy up and article I wrote in 1990 about magic myth and man, also I have remembered an experience from six years ago that is quite interesting..

Religion, magic, myths, history, the self…My thought from the 1990’s…�?<o:p></o:p>

Religion, on the surface, it is the belief in something magic that cannot be proved and defies all science and logic. The worry for me is the controlling influence it has on society by its leaders, it promises better things to come in the next life if you conform now. Heaven is the reward for the sacrifices you make in this life, by following your chosen religion. I prefer the idea of reincarnation, where you keep returning to this life until you are ready for the next level of existence. Perhaps explains why so many people appear dead as they wander  about aimlessly, I see them in the crowds everyday and am sure they will have to return many times before they are ready for another level. The notion of a soul needs to be considered, as we are often told we have one, but where is it and what is it?<o:p></o:p>

To believe we must accept the teachings of a religion, but with out any real evidence or the ability to question I find this very hard to do. Love the concepts of miracles, saints, holymen etc. But there seems very little direct intervention from the gods, accept in the way people may change in their hearts and thoughts. Perhaps we all turn to some sort of religion in times of crisis and when we are near death. Probably a last resort due to fear of the unknown<o:p></o:p>

Magic, illusion, sleight of hand and hypnotism are of very little interest to me, they are only fun to amuse, trick and confuse. Some tricks look impossible, but can be explained when properly studied. The only things of interest to me are those that cannot be explained by current laws of science, but perhaps will be explained in the future. I have little interest in tarot cards, diving, astrology etc not a path I wish to consider at the moment. I am sure that if they are useful they would be harnessed by powerful people to control the rest of us. I have very little knowledge of witchcraft and wizards of the present day. Although there is lots of coverage in the media, we seem to be fed on a constant diet of the supernatural in films TV and books I am not sure we learn very much from them they mostly seem to be fantasy or fairy tales. Something I would like to consider is whether popular musicians are the new shaman as I know loud music can have some interesting effects on people. My main interest at the moment is the study of Anglo-Saxon magic. I love the old Germanic tales of Odin and the Druids, but much was passed on orally and has now been forgotten.<o:p></o:p>

Myths, History and Legends, I love all the history of the Dark Ages such an interesting period unfortunately not enough records and much speculation about this period was recorded by Victorians. I love to read the sagas and look at the old Celtic manuscripts, but am not sure how they relate to the modern world, I only know that many of us have lost touch with nature. Also it is interesting to note how little people have really change over the centuries, we are the same superstitious people as we were long ago, we don’t seem to learn much from the past. The middle ages brought a period of strong control by the church with lots of persecutions of those that didn’t conform. This is not the ways I had read about as a child, when I was told Christ was all about love and tolerance. The last few hundred years could be called the age of science, when the natural world is explained for our benefit. Though to me it is fairly obvious that much of the new technology is aimed at hurting us not making our life better. So we now live in a more dangerous world than ever where it is easy to kill large numbers of people and the future looks even worse as soon any student will have the means to create mass destruction.<o:p></o:p>

The self all in the mind. Delusion, paranoia, hallucinations, dreams, luck, nightmares, meditation. There is a lot going on in our heads, as we seek to find reasons for our existence. When I read the works of people like Rousseau, Descartes etc I realise I am not alone in my quest to explain the world we live in. Although I hope we grow a little wiser as we get older we still have no real knowledge of what happens after we die, but I think most people hope there is something after death  and so we search for clues. Experience can be gained by altering the body’s chemistry, dreams, music , meditation and cannabis all affect my mind and offer knowledge, if only I knew the right questions to ask. Another possible area for further though is the question of what is reality? Eye brain co-ordination works fine, to feel and sense things in everyday life, but what about the unseen things and other dimensions, physics now tells us that there are more than 10 different dimension. I wonder if we could cross to another dimension, and find a very different reality to the one that we take for granted. Finally I would love to meet more people that I found exceptional, artists, musicians, holymen etc as I feel they would give off a special vibe that I could pick up on.<o:p></o:p>

Well thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas on a number of interesting subjects, reincarnation, religion, magic etc etc..you certainly throw up alot of questions and wonderings - i guess we are all the same in that respect. There are so many different possibilities and theories for everything...its just a neverending thing I think. I do kind of beleive in reincarnation in so far that I do think that if you dont fulfill your purpose in life the first time around that you can come back in a different form to have another go.  I couldnt bear to think that when we die there is no more, there has to be something else - another path to continue on.

 Very interesting legolas as I too have woken with a figure standing over me, that I beleive to be a druid.  He was clothed in white robes tied with a purple sash and appeared to be scattering purple flowers of some description onto my bed , as I began to come round he too dissapeared along with the flowers he had strewn,  As you can imagine i had to wonder whether I was dreaming etc but somehow i knew i wasnt.  What is interesting is that this happened when I did my first course in reiki and often if i closed my eyes when healing i always see a bright purple pentagram.. I have come to the conclusion that in fact thi must be one of my healing guides as I am also a Clairvoyuant Medium. 

 

Anyway just wanted to share a similar experience with you

Welcome to the group Shelby, nice to hear from you I am sure we all have lots of simular experiences to share. I have kept a journal since 1974 as have always worried about false memories and exaggerating things that happened in the past. When I checked my notes I found I had two visits from the same person, ten days apart, in my mothers spare bedroom, but my memory now is only of one experience. What should be interesting is that I will be staying in that room in a couple of weeks time, for about a week, to look after my mother. Would love to hear more about you being a medium, I only know you get a lot of bad press in the media as it seems an easy subject to doubt. I have a very open mind on the subject and want to learn more..
