I have posted a bit about the ghosts of the nursery where i work in my other group, so i will copy and paste the stories here too.

This is the latest 'thing', it happened just last night (18/06/07).

Last night at nursery, i had done some washing for one of the rooms, and by the time it was ready to put away everyone else had gone home.

I folded the bedding in the upstairs laundry room, then returned it to the room downstairs. When i went back upstairs i could hear the washer going round and i thought to myself 'I dont remember having more washing to go in', so i went to check.

The washer was on, and full of water, but no washing or soap powder in. I had not put that machine on. I didnt think i had, but i checked anyways, and it was not me !!!!

Strange !!!

This is where I work, it is a lovely bright happy place to work, but it does sometimes have 'paranormal' activity, lol. I dont get scared, i am usually in the building on my own on a night, after 6pm, everyone else goes home and im often there until 8pm or later.

I have never felt scared at work, even though alot of the staff told me about 'ghosts' etc.

I had been working at nursery about 4 months when i had my first encounter. I had to get something out of a lovked walk in cupboard, and the key is on a hook at the top of the door. I use this key several times a day, and this particular day, i went in the room and went to get the key, and it was moving from side to side. I didnt think anything of it, but i did thinkk 'oh, ive never noticed the key doing that before'. and got my things out the cupboard as usual, then locked the cupbnoard and put the key back.

As i turned round, i heard someone go 'pfff' right beside me. It did give me a shock, but i still was not scared.

It made me think about the key, and the following day, i told another member of staff, and we went to 'check'the key and how it would move on the hook. That key does not swing the way it had been, it can move, but not from side to side like i had seen.

When i told a few other people about this, they said it will have been Billy. Evidently quite a few of the children (aged 3) have seen and spoken to a boy called Billy who sits on a shelf in the bathroom where my cupboard is.

Also, there was a meeting in nursery one night, and when it was finished 2 of the girls went upstairs to get their coats etc, and they both saw a nun in one of the rooms. I have never seen or felt anything up there, but i do sometimes feel a bit uneasy in the upstairs bathroom.

Another thing happened not so long ago. About 4 weeks ago i think. There was 2 workmen came to fix something in the boiler room outside, i wasnt on my own, i had a girl called Stacy with me at work. The work men said they would let me know when they were going.

Both Stacy and I were upstairs, and we heard the door close (all the doors are fire doors at work so they close automatically and very loudly). I went to let the workmen out of the building, but they had not even come in from the boiler room yet.

This happened several timed, Stacy heard the doors going too, and each time we checked, there was no-one there. Then i got the fright of my life coz of course the last time i looked, the workmen were there, and i nearly sh*t my pants I can tell ya.

So, nothing really bad, just a few enexplained things. And..i totally love working there.

Ohmygod now that really is strange! I mean its not like you just heard a noise or something which you can always try and come up with an explanation for it...so there was no one else around that could have put it on? And why would anyone put on a washer with no clothes inside it??

It sounds like there's lots of "activity" going on where you work and the good thing is that alot of people can back up whats been going on, whether its more than one person who have seen something (and by the way that nun sounds spooky lol) and also the fact that alot of staff also feel uneasy at certain places of the building.

That key incident is really interesting as is everything else that has gone on! What does anyone else know about the background of who the nun might be and also the little boy billy? Any ideas what the premises used to be used for before it was a nursery??

Before the building became the nursery it was shops downstairs, a bit like an 'in-shops' type thing, with offices upstairs. It is a large building (as you can see by the photo) and the nursery is on both floors.

The idea of a nun being upstairs has no relevance that we can find at all. As for Billy, we think that there was a shop there called Billy's fruit and veg, so maybe he had a child or something, we cant find much information about any of it really, but a few people who live in Cleadon have been able to pass on bits of information.

There are several other things that could be a bit paranormal or unexplained, but they could also just be co-incidence. Last night i was in the same kitchen where the washer was on, and the clothes rail fell over, it gave me a fright as it made a loud noise, but it could have just been unsteady the way it was standing up or something. Things like that I dont always put down to 'spooks' as they could easily not be.

Also, i have never seen the nun, nor do i feel uneasy in the room where the 2 girls saw her. I do believe that they saw her, but maybe she was just 'passing through' at that time.
