EAGLESKY Picturesque and all aglow, From night to light like virgin snow; From gentle waves that kiss the shore; From eagles high aloft that soar. There sweetened smells of pine and grasses - Lingers softly as time passes. However lovely, however strong - Its beauty shall not be for long; For evil stench and fouling air Would grab the meadow like a bear That walks the pasture - fall grows late; And winter's sleep brings hibernate. So calm the lake - a mirrored ice; A mask so pure there seems no vice - Yet here, reflects a lavish blue A sky where once an eagle flew. The stench of evil in the air Has strangled meadows - and like the bear It chokes the sky where eagles fly; And as time mourns them.......we shall die. 1973: age 14 |
