We met one night in Paris
We met one night in Paris
Not far from the Seine,
We spoke in whispered silence
And I hoped we'd speak again.
We parted that first evening
Both happier it seems,
For fate saw fit to cross our paths
And tempt our very dreams.
I strolled that path next evening
And a quiet wish I made,
To once again meet up with you
For this, I hoped and prayed.
And there you were so radiant,
I hung upon each word,
That came from lips I could not see,
Your whispers never heard.
Again a pleasant bid goodnight,
We parted like before,
But this time it was safe to say,
That we'd come back for more.
Come Christmas day a message came
In soft and gentle phrase,
From lips I wished to taste like wine
And red like cherry glaze.
We seemed to talk forever
Knowing each of us was charmed,
Your gentleness bewitched me
And my heart was warm and calmed.
I missed you over Christmas,
For our meetings were but few,
And suddenly I was certain
That I'd fallen in love with you.
I knew that you had missed me
For there upon your voice,
Was happiness so palpable
It breathed with sweet rejoice.
Come New Year as the midnight hour
Approached to dawn the new,
A phone again pierced through the night
And I beamed for it was you.
I followed you to London
Wanting so much to be there,
To help you make the journey
Your new home I would share.
We've been together ever since
No longer strange it seems,
For finally after six long months
We met outside our dreams.
No, we had never met before
Our love crossed oceans blue,
But I know now that my love is pure
So I ask you, "Can I keep you?"
