Windswept Shores There upon the windswept shores of yesterday, Where lover's hearts and minds were once ablaze; Amidst the swirling mists Which sunlight filtered through like gold, A silent figure gazed into the haze. The gaze itself was burned into the sunset, And scattered golden rays upon the vast expansive sea; The sapphire stare held fast As salt spray whipped upon the breeze, A silhouette of love not meant to be. And there amongst the breaking waves and daylights' ebb, Where gulls upon the homeward wing are raised; The silent figure turned And left the sunset to its fate, His heart aloft and soaring - god be praised!
