The sun has set at Kuta Beach,
We gaze up at the stars,
This night there seems so many more,
All sons and daughters of ours.
Last evening as the night sky blazed -
When all ahead seemed bright,
Explosions rocked the evening air -
Set fire to the night.
Amid the carnage angels worked
Their miracles their care,
They helped a stricken stranger
Buried in the rubble there.
Such mindless waste of innocence,
Our loved ones taken so,
How can we now comprehend?
I’m sure I’ll never know.
The dawn has come to Kuta Beach,
With gentle waves that foam,
But further south, great fleets of planes,
Bring all our angels home.
