WHAT is a WOMAN? What is a woman? A magnet one might assume And one whose gentle eyes summons the male flesh Leading it always toward a northern star. Or could she be a kestrel? Whose talons bring even larger prey to heal And tears the heart within, with claws of steel Perhaps though, ....she's a vixen? Whose treachery and wisdom captures us All who seek her den, her passion. And yet is she a kitten? With gentle caresses encourage our affection; Whose paws and purrs bewitch our very soul A jasmine she may be I think? Exquisite perfume, seducing male hearts From those who inhale her scented skin. Or is she the essence....the rose? Whose pure, essential beauty captivates the tempted eye Holding it transfixed and frim. Or is this woman but a dream? Whose virtues, beauty and perfection Outshines the heavens stars - Holding admirers spellbound With her complexity and grace aged: 15 years. first written 1974 ...edited January 12, 2001 |
