Zephyr, I completely sympathise with your message. Sometimes one can give and give without seeing any evidence of fruit or even reward. Is the labourer not worthy of his reward? One cannot give what one does not have. Where do we go from here indeed. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I have much to be thankful for this day. I am a rich man. I have friends who are helping me "come out of the closet" so-to-speak, teaching me and encouraging me not to be ashamed for once having lifted a standard too high for any flesh to attain to. I have a roof over my head, I have food in my fridge, clothes on my back, and a fine new wife and daughter. I am doing what I can with what I have and I am grateful that He provides.
Nonetheless I feel that challenge that cannot be answered to with the mere mammon of materialism and my heart is still frequently vexed with the mass deceptions that are currently sweeping our planet and are become the burden of our Nation's youth. Verily, I too remember better days, when one could easily get by on just a little money and a lot of loving prayer; but so many today seem to have forgotten Godly priorities. They work harder and harder in their jobs and try to answer to the standards of the do-gooders that they have little time left to focus on the things of GOD, often confusing dead works for true religion.
Many are far too concerned about what saith Dow Jones today than to concern themselves with what saith the LORD. Now I was seriously considering voting for the Green Party but every time (it seems to me) that our politicians are in a pinch, we would all turn to the proverbial Queen of Green to send them a serious message and it just rubs me the wrong way. The Green Party platform does not have me convinced that they would do any better than the Conservative party already does (if they ever got into power) and that's not really saying alot. The only party in a position to make a difference currently stands at the helm and that, my dear sister, is very scarey. The PC party is barely in power at the federal level and the Liberals know it. Just like in the U.S. so has Canada fallen under the banner of the Neo-Conservatives. There is so much turn-coating going on that I hardly even know who to vote for anymore. Politics will not save us.
What have Liberals done that Conservatives haven't already done? Well, the sword swings both ways, it seems, so does the vote really make so much of a difference in these latter days? We already know that the Canadian Constitution is full of holes (no thanks to the N.D.P.) and the U.S. Constitution has been put on hold until further notice. Alas, I am obliged to vote for the powers that be and pray for men like Steven Harper. GOD help him! That man needs Jesus and he needs to get out of the front-shirt-pocket of U.S.A.
The way I see it, all of this is one big push toward globalization. Do we really have a choice? I would suppose that this would be our Canadian illustrious leader's reasoning as well, but Canada also knows that it wasn't Steven Harper that gave Canada the "thumbs up" on the N.A.U. Our Liberal government did all that. It surely wasn't Steven Harper that federally approved SAME SEX MARRIAGE coast-to-coast in Canada either. No, once again, that action was the Liberal government's undoing. In view of what I see occuring globally, with respect to "political loyalties", all of North America would do well to pull together before they all hang separately ?and that should also include the Mexican Military which certainly happens to have some very skilled soldiers as does Canada and the United States.
We are told that we are all "fighting" for the same thing. We are told that this thing is Liberty and Democracy. Is Mexico so different then? A: YES. They are not so foolish as to fight battles that are not theirs. What business does a Mexican soldier have in Afghanistan? Yet Canadians place themselves under the same public scrutiny and ridicule for no good reason. After all, who cares what Mexico thinks? Why should we look to them for an example when we aleady have the fine example(s) of friendly fire to look forward to while a new drug is being tested on a pilot! My how our media likes to sweep the facts under the rug!
North American Union indeed. Without it, we're in the easy-bake oven before you can say Betty Crocker. Sovereignty is vital to every nation but national sovereignty has its limits. The four quarters of the earth cannot be ignored if any politician is to arrive at any level of success in any nation. Real government is shared in a balance of power and our nations cannot afford to ignore the things GOD without consequence. The cremation of CARE will not solve any problems in this world but rather PEACEFUL ACTION by and through careful means.
BALANCE is the intrinsic key to success petaining to all forms of government, regardless of what labels "we the People" might desire to attach to them. No matter how much any citizen of any country might dislike this truth, it is essential to their survival and anyone else's that they understand what actual government is while our planet keeps turning. A mechanic can understand what a governor does because it is a common apparatus found on practically anything that spins and changes speed without spinning out of control! It is government that maintains balance and government begins with GOD. That is why we would do well to pray for our leaders.... But where are they?
Happy Thanksgiving
